Nudge at Night

From Dictionary.com

nudge:

–verb (used with object) 1. to annoy with persistent complaints, criticisms, or pleas; nag: He was always nudging his son to move to a better neighborhood.
–verb (used without object) 2. to nag, whine, or carp.
–noun 3. a person who nudges; pest.

I'm surprised you guys haven't picked this one up yet: I read an article the other day on All Access that he took the afternoon drive slot at newly-flipped WIOL in Columbus.

The nudge? or the nuge? As in Ted Nugent?

HA! Doesn't Uncle Ted do mornings in Detroit? Or maybe he used to?

I wonder why Nudge would take an afternoon gig in a much smaller market when he's capable (and ready for) a slightly better day part in a much bigger (or even medium sized) market?

I guess THAT'S why I've never heard of a nudge. I got my wife's in-laws for that!

who cares about nudge. did u know rock 100 is begging 4 advertisers. ;D
this is very good day.

It's not the same Chris Carter. Star's Chris is still here - he never left the station. Just F.Y.I.

Speaking of which: The article before the WIOL mention in Allaccess stated that Zak Tyler was going to Jackson, MS to be the new PD of Y101.7 WYOY, a CHR station, ironicly the position Q-100's Johnny O vacated to come here. [/sarcasm]

I'm a little surprised about where our boy Nudge took a job. Is afternoon drive in Columbus, GA really a step up from evenings in Atlanta?

I will say that the station's owner, Greg Davis, is one of the better ones in the industry. He's a broadcaster and not a corporate bean counter.

That said, I'd expected Nudge to go to a market like Columbus, OH and not Columbus, GA.

Yeah, hint the [/sarcasm]. That Zak Tyler is a "Zak" with one "k". Zakk Tyler at Dave is a "Zakk" with two "k's". One more "k" and we're either at Stone Mountain or out of the Batter's Box. ::)

Nudge didn't move down here to Columbus -- he just voicetracks the slot. I did see the WIOL lineup announcement on All Access, the way it was worded was misleading (and inaccurate, it also said he tracked Atlanta...which wasn't true. He was live there). Anyway, there is no one in the studio from 3p-7p at Mix in Columbus. Although, I will say - Nudge sounds great on the station.

Thanks, radiocow. That makes more sense.

Radiocow, could I milk you for just a little more information? What exactly is Nudge looking for? And why didn't he have something before he left Star 94? Would they not let him work without a new contract?

Looks like Star forgot the new guy, Darik, is 24... they probably got dyslexic and thought he was 42! Great filler for nights... Nudge was getting old... I mean he WAS 20 when he started so they had to dump him for this newer same-aged guy? ??? Oh that's right..... It's Star 94 we're talking about.

I'm just surprised to see C&R are still there... that's about the only consistency this station has. Why hasn't Star dumped them too?

And will Tripp West also be dumped? I mean he sounds old like someone in his 30s!

Dale Dorman is my hero, he hung on doing CHR at Kiss 108 Boston until he was in his early 60s! Was Tracey St. George sounding too old for Q100?

No, TSJ went a step up, from middays here to doing afternoon drive in West Palm. West Palm might be a lower market, but afternoon drive with a party girl in South Florida? And, she's what, about an hour and a half, maybe two, from South Beach? Fun in the sun.

Your explanation about TSJ makes sense, thanks.
