AM is down to 216 per the AM IBOC list:

Click on Station Search in the breadcrumb. Since it is so many records, it does tell you the number of stations that it will return without allowing the data to be returned.

The FCC database simply lists all the stations which have advised the Commission they're doing HD Radio. No formal authorization is required for transmitting in IBOC. A number of stations who reported to the FCC in the past 5 or 6 years are no longer using the system. How many have abandoned HD? Pick the number you like, but from anecdotes and comments from across the USA, I believe the number who have dropped HD is significant.

Consider how the "official" counts on AM-HD from the Commission and iBiquity insist the number of AMs is around 300, when the most credible source is Barry McLarnon's source which lists 216. (And of course only 80 or so are using HD 24-7 because of directional issues.)

The official line on HD continues to overblow the presence of IBOC in American radio, In the marketplace HD is invisible - except for the destructive interference the system spews.

a) How do you use the search mechanism and b) what terms?... c) keywords?... What d) settings do you select from the menus?...
