Numbers mean nothing

Well now, it's been a week or so since the last semi-trends arrived and no one has said a word. Nada. The usual
suspects did the usual. Mix wins. Pretty impressive. KDF barely cheated it's way out of the basement in the Country.
The Buzz now beats two Citadel ex-superstars with a worse signal. That's pitiful, but who cares. It's 2008.
Citadel's stock is dropping nearly as fast. To early to tell for RQQ. Ah, and The Fan, while still at flashlight
power put a huge dent into the hugely successful Zone. Okay, should anyone change anything or is it just
not worth typing...

Didn't really care to comment then, but I gotta comment now.

KDF really didn't cheat it's way out of the basement, take a look at 25-54. And what do you mean the Fan put a dent in the Zone, the Fan's numbers didn't move! The Spring trends research period doesn't even begin until after March Madness caps with the Final Four, and everyone that's been around awhile knows the Zone gets its highest ratings during football season, starts a slow descent after football season, makes a big drop after college basketball season, only to start slowly climbing back up to the beginning of football season. Nothing new there, so where's the "dent"? Between the Cituhduhl pair, though, KDF is starting to appear lackluster. But if you're aware of what's going on over there, they are in a position now where they could do something different, but what could they really do that would make a big enough splash? Would they really do something surprising, like they've done in a few other cities recently?

I'll attribute the rise of the Buzz to two things: First, the Buzzards finally woke up a bit when RQQ premiered Rock and showed Nash Vegas they weren't going to take any guff from the uspstart, and Second, although RQQ started off strong musically, they now serve as a reminder what a good 2008 Rock station shouldn't sound like, so that audience is leaping over to the Buzz or sticking with Old Faithful 105.9.

Sorry. Jet, I was meaning a lot of what I said as paraphrases of things posted on here. I should have been clearer.
I know The Fan has no impact on anyone. KDF was a retort to the intense coverage of in-house antics (rather than
ratings) and I have to admit I was surprised by The Buzz. The numbers mean nothing subject was meant to say
basically no one cares about the business side rather gossip and guesses, which is fine.

I just miss Scott. I long for the posts of rural AM. Even Romer seems to be on sabbatical. Wow. :-[

P.S. Arbor Mist seems more of a medicine than a celebration these days.

Number DO mean nothing or The Fan would have changed their format years ago. Anything local that gets below a 1.0 --who's listening? Almost no one! But I guess they make money from somewhere.

Probably pays in three ways:

1. Combo buys ("...And for only $$ more, your spot can also be on our sports station! We have ESPN, you know.")

2. Make goods ("Sorry our rocker didn't perform so well last month, so we'll make it up to you by giving you back time-and-a-half on our sports station! We have ESPN, you know.")

3. Keeps a little AM from being too much of a threat in the market to their 5 FMs ("They used to have ESPN, you know")

Jet --- you're making to much sense. That doesn't happen on the Roundabout.
They've just forgotten they have that station, they have so many others.
