NWA Radio

With my last Sat radio gone, I am now forced to listen to regular radio again. It is not any better than it was before. the same old crap with the same old boring, heard that too many times music. There is nobody thinking outside the box. I do find that out of all the rock stations, The Keg has the best msuic out of allof them. The upside, I have 4 sports stations to listen to. Hoep someone makes some changes soon.

Since moving to 98.3, I do think The Keg has improved the music by infusing more AAA artists. Though I wouldn't mind seeing them adding more currents to the rotation and changing the gold library from time to time.

The syndication on both CHRs has become out of hand. Power having Kidd Kraddick and Billy Bush and Hot Mix having Ryan Seacrest and Elvis Duran. Seriously?! A New York City based morning show in Northwest Arkansas sounds like a fish out of water when people with their Long Island and New Jersey accents start calling in.

As a sports fan, I am also glad to have 4 different sports stations to choose from. Its nice to have options if I want to hear a Razorback based show or a National sports show. Not sure how long that will last though. Even Dallas doesn't have 4 sports stations!

I also beleive this is the only market that doesn't not have A Classic Hit Station or a Variety hit station.. When K95.7 was on the air, it had good ratings. I would like to see something like that here.

I still think Y94.9 would be a good choice to flip to some sort of classic/variety hits formats, like Tom FM in Little Rock or Jack FM in Kansas City or Dallas.

A flip to the 90s based format like GenXRadio 106.1 out of Tulsa would be a nice addition, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Ok, I see that somebody gets it!! It would be nice to see that. I don't think that Y94.9 is doing that great. Magic is still beating them. With the AC format that way it is, I think there is not room for 2 or for 2 to be successful. A good veriety hits station would work. i also would like to see KFAY have local news in the morning. The question is , will Cumulus make any changes. And on a different topic, does nayone know what hppen to Don the E Man on US 94? I noticed he is not on the website any longer.

Aircheck... E-Man went back to the Kansas City area to run legendary stations KMZU and KAOL. I believe those were the stations he started out at back in the day, and I'm pretty sure they are located in his hometown.

Hated to see him go. He is a class act!

I also noticed that there is not a station in NWA that plays music in the morning. Everybody jsut talks to hear themselves talk. One statin all they talk about is sex and the rest are meaningless chatter and no music.

I guess I spoke too soon. KFFK-AM 1390 has flipped from sports to Spanish. Guess it makes sense though. The only time I listened to them was to hear Jim Rome from 11am-2pm.

Based on what I hear on the radio in the mornings in Northwest Arkansas, we must be in different dimensions. Because there are stations in MY Northwest Arkansas that play music in the mornings.

1390 is Spanish this week.. Who knows what it will be next week.
Not sure what is going at Butler. They had the Jim Rome show today then went back to Spanish at 2pm. As long as they keep Jim Rome, I don't really care what the format is the other 21 hours a day.

I would love to know the station that you are listening to that plays music, casue I have not found it.

if not mistaken, the keg is playing some music in the earlier hour of their morning show.

I noticed that Grant Merrill is NOT listed on the Hog Sportsradio website. Where is Grant now? Broadcasters in NWA should make Grant a part of it's station lineup and take advantage of his sports expertise.
