NWS on 6520?

How long has the NWS (National Weather Service)
been on 6520 SSB mode?
I dont ever remember hearing this station before.
they were announcing a Tropical Storm Warning for Bermuda

What time of day was this heard on 6520; will try to see if I can hear it here (Florida) during that time frame.

drt,
st. petersburg

around 5:45PM Central
It doesnt appear to be on the air anymore.

it came in pretty clearly, I think it transmits from Florida.

Thanks for the info; maybe their schedule is intermittent and they only broadcast when there are storm advisories in the Atlantic. (Bermauda and the Bahamas).

6250 is actually the robotic-sounding weather broadcast of the "United States Coast Guard Master Station Atlantic", not the NWS. I occasionally can copy it out here in the NW during the summer-early Winter months. (In fact, it's been coming in like a blowtorch here lately.) I think they only transmit once every couple of hours or so.

If I remember right, the equally robotic-sounding USCG Master Station Pacific in Honolulu transmits on the same frequency during the other parts of the day.

There are other freqs as well, but I don't have my list with me right now.
