NYC All-Holiday Music Radio this Year

I've been reading a few of the other boards about how Christmas music may be starting earlier this year on some stations across the country like November 1. Knowing that 106.7 Lite-FM has been the constant Christmas music source for the past two years (along with 102.7 in '03 and 'PLJ in '04) and has done quite well with it, will they go for it again this year? 'PLJ? Any other possibilities for the format this year?

AND...

When? Will they start Thanksgiving and after or between 11/1 and Thanksgiving?

Personally, my feelings are that 106.7 will do it again (which, honestly, I don't mind) and that they will start on Thanksgiving.

I would be surprised if PLJ does it again. Lite FM is the Christmas leader in NYC. I'm sure PLJ brought in lots of revenue. In fact, I would like PLJ to do it again because their presentation is real fun, although I don't mind Lite FM's. I guess we will see!

Did Lite FM start the Wednesday before Thanksgiving last year? If another station starts earlier, Lite will probably follow suit. Well, I know Lite will do it again. Its very successful.

Lite FM will definitely do it this year. Maybe Jack FM could use a little boost this Christmas. I wouldn't be surprised even if K-Rock went all-Christmas, leading up to an eventual format change after Christmas.
______________

365 days a year

The leaves are still green and we're talking about Christmas music already?
Why not just do it 365 days a year a this point?

Actually, the leaves are changing colors now, but we get the point. I think it is an appropriate time to start speculating about holiday music, since we are only a few weeks away from November.
______________

In the late 1990s there was a Web site that
streamed Christmas music 24 hours a day, 365
days a year. I believed they used the unofficial
callsign XMAS.

I know I may be on the wrong board to be discussing foliage but in NYC., Central Park and Long Island the leafs are NOT yet changing color.
That being said I totally agree that now is a fine time of year to speculate about Christmas music on radio but the fact that a station would begin it's Xmas programming Nov. 1 is ridiculous!

Now, that I agree with. November 1st is way too early. In my opinion, I think it is ok to start all Christmas music on the day before Thanksgiving. That day, personally, I am in the holiday spirit.
______________

"Christmas 92.3" or "The New 92.3 FM New York's Home for the Holidays", then flip to "The New Mix 92.3 New York's Station That Picks You Up and Makes You Feel Good". Oh wait, that already happend.
______________

I hope K-Rock goes all-Christmas and then brings back their modern rock format or perhaps a format like the much-missed 'LIR had on 92.7 and 107.1. THAT would be a nice Christmas present, at least to a fan of modern rock music like myself. C'mon, New York radio, you're REALLY starting to all sound the same!!!
