NYC ARBITROM PPM RATINGS RELEASED - HOLIDAY 2009

To see the publicly released overall age 6+ PPM data for the Holiday 2009 period (Thu. 12/10/09-Wed. 1/6/10), go to the New York Ratings Grid.

The next rating period is for January 2010 (Thu. 1/7/10-Wed. 2/3/10), with the publicly released overall age 6+ PPM data to be released on Wed. 2/24/10.

WLTW led the pack with an 11.6 share - highest in NYC in ages.

It seems that the AC stations were the big winners in the ratings in many cities.

This may be amazing, WLTW has a Cume of 7,000,000. That's a number that has never been reached. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks,
Kevin L. Sealy

Looks like WBLS is having a rough time. I know Pierre Sutton is gonna say there is something wrong with PPM......bull. The station's playlist is bland. The Friday and Saturday night Mix shows are good, but listening to the station during the week is tough. They play the Top 10 Urban AC songs on Billboard's Urban AC chart with an old song thrown in from time to time. No variety. WHUR in Washington,DC does well in the PPMs. The playlist is full of variety. They play the Top 10 Urban AC songs plus up and coming R&B songs and album cuts. Grown folks don't wanna here that same old crap all the time. WHUR/DC plays a mix of the big Urban artists (Alicia Keys,Beyonce) along with with real soul artists like N'dambi and Maysa.

I guess blaming PPM/Arbitron is easy thing to do.

Not in the USA.

This was the Christmas Music 4-week period.

So radio isn't going the way of the do-do bird after all?

So PartyFM was measured during this entire ratings period and had only a 0.2 and a cume of just over 300,000, a far cry from Pulse 87's glory days.

I wish they were on 87.7 for a year so that we could realistically compare the ratings between Pulse and Party.

Party FM was doomed from the start.

Playing the same Jay Z and Beyonce songs that Hot 97,Power 105.1,Z-100 and Now-FM plays. Why go to a bad signal at the end of the dial to hear Jay Z?

The last station that might have received high numbers like that were WKTU during the disco era on 92.3....probably around 1978 - 1979

Nick.

Forget the speculation. It's over.

Are you guys just stupid or do you not know about ratings. I can't sit back and listen to this anymore.

LOOK AT THE NUMBERS.

NOV ARB 6+ (BY THE WAY NO BUYER LOOKS AT 6+), this was the last month of pulse and the cume was 497k, lots of talk about the station, lots of speculation and lots of people tuning in and they pull a 497k cume

DEC ARB 6+ this is Nov weeklys and two weeks of no encoding and two weeks of Party and they pull a 246K cume, needless to say if they had the first two weeks in there it is about the same 400k cume

HOLIDAY ARB - a book that no buyer looks at and 4 weeks of Party and they pull 313K of cume. No buyer looks at these numbers because they are not logical. Just look at the swing of the top stations.

How can anyone say Party lost the numbers! Here is a news flash they stayed flat with the number that pulse left them with...anyone care to dispute the facts?

lets talk about this....pulse lost their entire cume from Aug-October, maybe because they were begging for dollars or maybe because they were not paying staff and everybody was leaving, but stop the bull. Lets talk facts.

wxny 3.2, wskq 3.0!!! ooops, looks like somebody is in trouble.....does anybody here need " el pacha?" yeah, wxny! ;D

A correction to the New York ratings grid (as found in other trade sites):

WBLS-FM should show a share % of 2.8, not 2.7.
WQXR-FM's owner should be WNYC Radio, not Univision.

Looks like they'll be going hand-to-hand, much liek their urban cousins WQHT and WWPR do every book...

Thanks to Batman and Robin, "Lite-FM" had set a record for being the most listened to AC station in the NYC area, the king of all music formats. 11 share in the PPM's during the Holiday season with a cume of 7 million listeners alone. Look what they did with Z100 back in 1983 when it first got started, it went to #1 and it was the most listened to Top 40 radio station in NYC under Scott Shannon where usually went "From Worst to First". WLTW saves the day!
