(delayed one day due to Labor Day holiday on Mon. 9/3/12).

Format note: WEMP dropped its news format on Tuesday morning, July 17, 2012.

98.7 down again to only not that much higher from when they were on 1050. But like I said before, their main play by play properties are all in the offseason. They only had ESPN Radio coverage of baseball (and maybe an NBA Finals game) in that period.

WOR is in a steady .1/mo decline. The "Dave Ramsey Effect?" Each weekday the issue-oriented news/talk stops at 11 am and resumes at 4 pm. This can't be helpful.

WEPN traditionally gets crushed by WFAN in the summer even with Francesa's extended absences. IMO, new listeners sampled them on 98.7 and decided not to return and the early lift in May is rapidly diminishing, as you note. I would imagine that when the August #s are released, they'll level off a bit due to all the noise coming out of Jets camp and then get a nice lift from the NFL season. But nowhere near the numbers that they were expecting from being on FM.

Ironically, I still get better reception on the 1050 signal than 98.7 in various areas of the extended metro area.

WBLS is doing terrific. They are tied for third (along with WKTU) among 25-54, according to AllAccess.com.
WSKQ (Mega 97.9) is #4.
Among 25-54, surprisingly, WLTW is only #2. WHTZ is number 1.

According to the latest PPM's, CBS-FM did really well in 3rd place. They had the big 40th anniversary weekend featuring the return of some of the greats including Cousin Brucie since he hasn't been on that station since the "Jack" fiasco in 2005, and then Don K Reed came back to do a "Doo-Wop Shop" one time only show for Subday, and of course, Norm N Nite. Throughout the special weekend, they play many of the pre-Beatles (1955-63) stuff just like the one you'll hear on WGNY's "Fox Oldies" in the Hudson Valley, the home of Van Ritshie, Bob O, Buffalo Bob Corisino and Joe Manglass, and a mixed bag of other stuff that you don't hear anyplace else on the dial. CBS-FM has brought back its reverb once again. After a special 40th anniversary weekend, they brought in Earl Mann, the voice you know from NFL Films is now doing the voiceover work for CBS-FM replacing Ziggy and you might hear Ziggy on many radio stations including "Thunder 106" in New Jersey. Earl is a decent voiceover announcer for CBS-FM, but he sounded a lot like Ernie Anderson, the legendary voiceover for all of the ABC-TV promos back in the late 70's and early 80's as well as a spokesperson for the Sega Master System where he says "The challenge will always be there".

CBS-FM is a big win, but it goes to #3 at 5.8.

Good to see a Hinckley swerve again. It's been a while.
And he really nailed the WKTU boost.

There also was a comment elsewhere (posted by some pork chop in PA) about the top nine stations in NYC being FM music stations. That's a major-market rarity, especially so for a market with four 50,000 watt omnis and five other 50,000 watters. That sorry gainsay showing also should somewhat lessen the acceleration of some FM Talk advocates.

At least for the summer.
