NYC May 2010 Numbers are in!!

In other stunning news, SKQ shot back up to #10 with a bullet and has overtook XNY, which is now #12. I realize part of that is after their settlement with Arbitron but what else did they do differently that created those numbers? ???

So where did those missing LTW listeners go? They can't all be at Fresh because Fresh's rating actually dropped a bit, although their cume rose a bit as well. I don't see any evidence that the suburban AC stations had any noticeable increases.

I would like to see how WPAT-FM's ratings are affected this month with the FIFA World Cup ongoing.

'PAT and 'RXP are the two lowest rated full-signal FMs. How long can they struggle?

If 'LTW is playing rap, as another thread mentioned, CBS-FM might stay on top for quite some time. :)

It was established that the OP in that thread actually heard the rap songs on another 106.7 that was interfering with Lite. Then again, Lite has gotten a bit "hotter" as of late, so that may be turning off some listeners.

Anyhow, I'm very excited to see CBS-FM on top. And they got a higher share than WLTW in spite of having a lower cume, which I think goes to show that they have more loyal listeners and are not just a "background music" station.

And CBS-FM is more local than Lite - and in a similar vein, Lite is not very Lite these days.

Face it, if lite wants to get back to No. 1, they're going to have to drop anything remotely related to rap. Gosh, I bet they miss Jim Ryan now...

By the way... I guess this means putting the Giants preseason games on Now-FM this year was a wise decision after all! :D

WRXP would logically be the lowest-rated English FM station.

Here's how pathetic (depending on your point of view) this book is for WRXP. They're in 21st place, right behind WNYC-FM and WOR, respectively. WNYC's cume is 921,700; WOR's even lower with 859,900. WRXP's cume (2,202,800) trumps both of them, and then some, yet ends up with a worse overall rating than WNYC-FM and WOR. Funny how these things work...

To be technical, that distinction belongs to WFME, coming in at a 0.3 share 6+...

WAWZ is based in Somerset County, but their jingles say Star 99.1 New York. WFME, yes is licensed to Newark, but their stick is I think around West or South Orange, dont quote me on that.

so they sound like fresh 102.7 ?

Lite is still #1 in 25-54, and that is all that matters. The margin of the win is less than ever before, and WLTW is declining while CBS FM is growing in the sales demos. But Lite is by now means "defeated" as 12+ and 6+ are not used for sales... just for bragging.
