Covering the period from Thu. April 28 through Wed. May 25.

PPM analysis with demo rankings of the Top 5 stations in each category:

(Ignore the headline and URL address; the info contained in the article pertains to May 2022.)

WCBS-FM is #1 in age 6+ (WLTW is #2, WBLS is #3).

WCBS-FM + WLTW are tied at #1 in age 25-54 (WHTZ is #3).

WKTU is #1 in age 18-34 (it has moved from #12-#5-#1 over the past 3 surveys).
WHTZ is #2 and WCBS-FM is #3.

WHTZ is #1 in age 18-49 (WLTW is #2, WKTU is #3).

Small observations: doesn't look like WNYL's addition of EITM has made a dent yet, but it only marked 2 months on 92.3 this week. WXBK is making gains outside the city in the Jersey suburbs, but the growth is still quite slow in the city itself. Did the station ever attempt its move to Lyndhurst to gain "better coverage" of the city?

Though KTU being labeled Hot AC is kinda wierd.
Its really more Rhythmic CHR going by their labels as its way more closer in format to Z100 than WNEW to me.

The obsession with format labels is puzzling. The websites covering broadcasting, which are just as much outsiders as I am when it comes to having actual power in the industry, slap those labels on the 6+ ratings themselves. They're not necessarily what the stations report themselves to Nielsen as. And NO station is using "Hot AC" or "Rhythmic CHR" on air or in its promotion and advertising. So why do some radio geeks get so wound up when a label doesn't match what their ears tell them a station is running?

WCBS-FM must be doing something right to be #1 in the ratings. They must be getting former WPLJ and Z-100 listeners who are in the 40–54-year-old age range.

KTU plays a good amount of currents, but they also play some throwbacks as far back as the 90s, sometimes even into the 80s. So a Hot AC labelling isn't far-fetched.

Duhhhhhh!!! Can you say "Scott Shannon"? He's one of the primary reasons that the station's picked up a whole bunch of former 'PLJ AND Z100 listeners! That, and the fact that they've moved forward in their music mix (for reasons I've already indicated in the past).

I found it interesting that while the overall ratings for La Mega WSKQ 97.9 dipped to their lowest point in a while, the rating for their online stream soared to a 1.6. Even allowing for the possibility that the 1.6 is a fluke, this seems to be an indication that if a station is streamed more than others, their broadcast rating will be impacted.
Does sharply increased streaming tend to reduce the revenues of stations, if it significantly impacts the amount of listeners to their OTA broadcasts?

The stations radio audio is bad too compared to other stations.
It’s slightly better on HD but they lack punch. WAXQ and WLTW have far better audio quality. CBS-FM is on the mini master antenna so I’m not sure if that makes any difference.

Completely agreed, and I'm 22 years old! Definitely glad to see WCBS-FM had the success they had this book, congratulations to their team for that.

I'm 37, and I much prefer the '60s and '70s, at least when it comes to the type of mainstream pop/rock fare that CBS-FM focuses on. I also prefer the '90s ("my" decade) for that matter. But to each their own... obviously I can't argue with ratings success.

They should seriously bring back the 60s music!!! If Q104.3 can play the 60s-2000s, CBS-FM can make it work too!!!!

Certain artists such as The Beatles, Beach Boys, Motown groups, and others appeal to listeners of all ages. Would it benefit WCBS-FM, Q-104.3, and Lite-FM to include those artists in their respective music mixes?
