NYC Radio Dream Dial

Actuallly, it was Easy 93.

To be more exact, K-Love is a Christian soft rock station, sort of the Christian equivalent of 106.7 Lite FM.

Currently, WADO is a primarily a sports station carries programming from TUDN Radio.
1. There's actually a recording of the last WPAT sign off over on Dailymotion and it says “Today's 93.1”. I think WPAT had become a Lite clone by the time it signed off.
2. My bad for not being specific about the type of christian rock.
3. Soon, that's going to change, as the FCC greenlit the LMN deal.

The idea of New as Hot AC had come after just 2 days after they decided it was time to look for a refresh of Fresh. New was supposed to be Top 40, I'm not gonna deny the fact that Fresh was always meant to be Lite's “nemesis”.
New 102.7 was a rebrand not unlike what Audacy ended up doing at WOGL and KOOL: a rebrand due to perceived negative connotation with the Fresh brand. The playlist changed slightly (added more 90s) and that’s about it.

Entercom dumped the Top 40 format day 1 at 92.3 because they knew they could not compete head on with Z100, and the 102.7 rebrand came less than a year later, it’s hard to believe that they intended to jump back into that fight.

And it never was all news. The AM Drive news block was ended about 10 years ago, and the rest of the day was paid programs, talk shows and sports.

Since Audacy can't have their FM radio dial without WINS, and Q104.3 is literally non-existent at this point (you could say it's the walking dead), why not have 104.3 WADO? WADO is basically 1010 WINS in Spanish.
All news as a viable format is pretty much dead throughout Spanish speaking Latin America. The all-news format migrated to news and talk in Puerto Rico over 20 years ago and, except for Perú*, there is no all news station that I know of anywhere in Central and South America or the Caribbean.

* Perú still has a hybrid, RPP, with news blocks and talk shows. Toda la programación de RPP Noticias | RPP Player

Brazil has BandNews FM, a network of all-news FM stations that has been in existence since 2005. Their slogan is "Em 20 minutos, tudo pode mudar" ("In 20 minutes, everything can change").

No one said that WADO was or would be all-news.
It hasn't had news blocks or even a news department for a decade or more. It's talk-sports (paid) and brokered (paid)

I neglected to say "Spanish speaking Latin America". My mistake (and now corrected).

At one point, when I was with Emmis in Argentina, we seriously negotiated a major 50 kw AM station to do an all news format on. It would have accompanied Radio 10, our 100 kw personality talk and news station and the classic Argentine rock AM. But initial research revealed that the audience would be old and more likely to stay with the already existing ten or so high power full signal AM talk stations.

You forget the fact that 92.3 was a CHR. WNEW has been a HOT AC before the rebranding. It was originally called fresh 102.7

My dream dial:
92.3 Alternative
92.7 Gregorian Chant
94.7 Classic Alternative
95.5 Country
96.3 Polka
99.5 Standards
100.7 K-Pop
101.9 Mongolian Throat Singing
102.7 Opera
103.5 Classic Country
103.9 J-Pop

How’s this look?

I think country might have done better if they had a signal that covered more of Long Island and Connecticut
Except for the western third of one county, none of CT is part of the NYC Nielsen market.

People who've never lived in Connecticut frequently underestimate how well "radioed" the state is. Danbury, Bridgeport and New Haven are all legitimate radio markets, with stations in most mainstream formats that dominate local listening. The listener in Fairfield (toward the eastern end of Fairfield County) is listening to WEZN or WEBE for AC, not WNEW-FM, WPLR or WFOX for classic rock, not WAXQ.
