NYC Radio in West Milford,NJ

I was driving through the center of West Milford and I got static on 92.3, and 100.3 then after a few seconds it came back in clear? Why is that?

Lots of mountains over there ..
My Dad used to live there ...

unless someone's gotta crappy radio with no antenna you can DEFINATELY get NYC radio stations ALL of them in West Milford. My question is to why these stations all of a sudden for not even a few feet just get staticy then back to normal again.
Look at radio-locator.com: http://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/lo...b=Y&format=&dx=0&radius=&freq=&sort=freq&sid=

If they are 3's which is moderate-decent signals, then why is this happening? It started happening around May or so.

A rule of thumb or two, which might have an effect in your West Milford listening and your Dad's, Pirate Jim.

The Palisades are pretty well up there and right smack in the way. There are some spots even around North Bergen where you drive along the Hudson and swear you're looking down at the Empire State Building.

And virtually all of the AMers (should someone be interested in 620, 930, 970, 1330, et al) plow their signals in the opposite direction from West Milford.

I've been through there a few times as a kid. One of the loveliest places in the area. But after having DXed from there, and from Kerhonkson, Rosendale and Woodboune in the Catskills along that arc of stalagmites, I'm reminded of a pal's gleeful words when a few of us were trying to receive anything on the radio : 'What a great spot to DX! Nothing comes in!'

I literally never have an issue in my car or even in my house getting any of the NYC stations. The only one I have difficulty getting sometimes in 105.9 but that's because of their signal being so weak. It's the 2nd largest township in the state of NJ. Everywhere I get NYC stations just not at this one spot
