NYC under partial evacuation and I can't get WCBS online. >:(

I'm blocked, because I live outside of the US. So much for the 'new' technology. Thank goodness for good old AM radio...I just have to wait for sunset. :I

Try using a different postal code. It works for me when I access UK stations.

That I've tried, with success (usually giving them the postal code for 10 Downing Street :D), but many US streams (including WCBS) wouldn't ask for such info.

As forth Darth's suggestion, interesting know that one can set individual players to proxies (as opposed to one's entire IP address). As Irene approaches NYC, I'll try that during the daylight hours, when 880 sends me nothing but white noise.

The ionosphere does not discriminate according to the whims of humans, does it?
Too bad them internets can't figure out how to behave like a radio.

When folks ask if internet radio is "real radio", here's an excellent example of why and when it's not.

And why shouldn't the intenet be as completely free and behave just like radio?
There's an awful lot of commmercial advertisment on the "system" ...
But the commercial content is the part that makes it all so unworkable.....It's all pretty stupid from a listener's viewpoint.

Why exactly am I not supposed to hear advertising from wherever it is I choose to listen? (Unless it's my home market)
