Surprised no one has started a thread on this already. Some interesting movement in the latest book:
Lite FM, err, 106.7 is down almost a full share, though it's still in a strong lead over the #2 station in 12+.
This seemed to be a pretty poor book for most urban stations. BLS and Kiss were both down around a half share each, Hot and Power were also down, each to their lowest numbers in a while. Z100 managed to go up a tick, and La Kalle remained even (it seems that losing the simulcast on 92.7 hasn't hurt the station). The other two main Spanish-language stations took a dive, however. With summer on its way, I'm betting that the numbers for the urban and Spanish-language stations will recover somewhat.
Que Buena is probably the biggest success story of all, they're only a tick behind Free FM!
Speaking of Free FM, their format seems to be dead in the water. I read elsewhere that Opie & Anthony have managed to double David Lee Roth's ratings. Yet the numbers as a whole have been stagnant since its inception.
CD 101.9 was down and had its worst book in a long time, which will certainly fuel rumors of a sale.
Fresh showed a small increase and moved ahead of CD 101.9. Jack FM also was up a tick, and is pulling away from PLJ, which dipped below the 2's. The billing is strong, but how long will that last if the numbers keep dropping?
WFAN was also slightly down and indeed has been trending downwards for the past few books. The winter book did not even capture the firing of Imus, so the next book should be interesting. Will the Mets, Nets and Devils help WFAN or will they drop off further with the loss of Imus?
Down towards the bottom of the barrel, the gospel format on WLIB seems to be growing slowly, while Air America seems to be flat. I don't think they could really expect much better on 1600, however.
