NYRE still has The Man's name

Well, now that the time of year has come, it appears that New Year's Rockin' Eve still has Dick Clark's name as it always has. I wonder if it's only for this year, and better yet, that they have a major tribute to Dick Clark. Do you think they can have the NYRE special even without his name? Many people thought that The Price is Right would never be the same without Bob Barker, but it has been on for 6 years since Bob retired, and is still doing very well.

I would think that as long as Dick Clark Productions is behind the program, it'll always attach Clark's name, even though he won't physically be on the program anymore, because most people connotate Clark with New Year's, Times Square, the ball drop, et al. You will recall the show "Ripley's Believe It Or Not" bore the late Robert Ripley's name, having signed on long after his death.

In fact, the first two New Year's Rockin' Eve shows (1973 and 1974) didn't have Dick's name on it (the 1973 edition was "Three Dog Night's Year's Rockin' Eve" if I remember), and weren't even on ABC - they were on NBC. So although I can't imagine they'd remove his name, at least for some time, there would at least be precedent for the show appearing without it.

I just want Guy Lombardo's orchestra back. I'm content with Carson Daly as a host and interviews in Times Square.

I don't know what will be the signal to go to bed if Dick doesn't kiss Kari.

On the subject of names, Dick Clark Productions has a new show hosted by Dean Cain called "Bloopers". But it's a home video show, with hidden camera practical jokes.
