The southern part of the state is closer to NY than the self-proclaimed Hub.

What's pathetic is your knowledge of geography. Boston is about 90 miles from Westerly, RI's southwestern most town, while New York is about 140 miles away.

Uh-oh. I may have to foul you on a technicality. Westerly is only 25 miles away from Fishers Island New York. Eastern Long Island is less than 50 miles from Westerly. Go to Mapquest and see for yourself. It doesn't particularly matter that the mileage is over water. So are Radio waves! So a good part of Rhode Island is closer to New York than it is Boston.

The 'distance issue' is really more psychological than in physical miles.

The 'pull' or 'orbit' of such a supercity like NYC is naturally going to be stronger than Boston (much as some might not like to hear it).

As for Long Island, most folks in the NYC metro (with the possible exception of some folks in Queens)......don't really think of or consider Long Island as being part of that greater metro area.

What about the Patriots in the fall?

Don't they have another year or two with the Pats. I can see split programming for Patriot games to air on WEAN and not WPRO as to the Yankees being kept on 99.7 WEAN and not airing on Pro.
I cant see them dumping the Pats and the Yankees.
Makes sense to me. ???

Good Point. I suppose it would still be possible to keep alive that 790 / 99.7 simulcast, but only for sports events like the Pats and Yankees.

Now......If only the Yankees would DO SOMETHING about John Sterling ;D
