O & A Cast of Characters

I was just wondering whatever happened to all of the interesting characters that were a staple on O & A. Like Stalker Patty, Gay Marco, and the retarded Laverne and Shirley? Does O & A even have them on the show anymore?

I miss those classic characters.

Stalker Patti is still there. Then they've also got Pat from Moonachie and Tippy Tom. They're the ones that really stuck. Now, O&A heavily rely on their interns for entertainment, as well as their listeners from Wackbag.com/FullBlownAids.com/Paltalk.

Sounds like they followed the lead of Howard Stern who's show is all him, his staff, and whack packers (AKA retarded and disabled people he makes fun of). I guess the question with the merger is, when they sit down and look at the programming and eliminate what doesn't work or what is redundant, what goes, OA, Stern, Both, none? Both have small audiences. Both seem to have gotten pretty bad.

It's not clear who will stay and who will go. I doubt they're going to want to keep paying Howard as much as they do and O&A's contract is up very soon with no hint of whether it will be renewed or not. Both Howard and O&A's satellite audiences are loyal and will most likely cancel their subscriptions as soon as their favorite show goes. However, satellite radio still isn't so popular that the new XM/Sirius company will want to lose subscribers. Especially in these tough times.

Somehow, Lex, I suspect that between O&A and Stern, Stern's PROBABLY gonna end up sticking around and O&A will end up back in terrestrial radio FULL TIME!! (Stern's got more name recognition than O&A.....)

It's very possible, especially because of Mel Karmazin's friendship with Stern. However, O&A's fans are absolutely rabid (there is no other word that could describe them) and their satellite radio units will end up looking like this: http://a949.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/33/l_2776b8ac19c7e32e9653eb6029f59eec.jpg

Yea, all 27 of them. :)

Ha ha ha! Visit Wackbag.com and prepare to count way higher than 27 just on that one site. ;)

Ok 30!

I don't see Stern's deal changing. It's already in the numbers. OA are a different story. They have very poor terrestrial numbers so it will be interesting to see if their sat deal is renewed. I don't think it will be. At least you'll still have them on terrestrial.

So you must work for Sirus and have the survey numbers and must have access to XM's survey numbers so you can tell how many people listen to Stern and O&A. I would hate to think that you would have a misinformed opinion based on your own hatred.

Get a clue.

The numbers I have are no different than anyone else can get. Stern averages about 1 million listeners. OA about 200k on sat.

I care less. I don't listen to either. Both are low level annoying radio. BUt as a business decision I'd bet OA go on Sat

All of the old WNEW, PM Drive characters either moved on or they just aren't awake for the AM drive. I was a huge O/A fan. The last few months have sucked. I don't even know what it is about the show that doesn't seem right. I just know that I went from listening to them all day long on XM, to only listening to them a few minutes a week. I only have XM202 on for Ron and Fez now.

I know what's missing... them in afternoon drive.

I think if anyone at K-ROCK had any sense of what would make their numbers higher, they'd bring Booker back to do mornings and have O & A back on in the afternoon drive.

Booker is a hilarious rock jock and O & A are hilarious "shock jocks"... which is a term I hate to use for them when one of their most famous bits wasn't dirty at all.

Putting a bunch of homeless people on a bus and driving them out to one of the most pristine malls in New Jersey and giving them $102 dollars to spend in the mall on anything they want. With listeners calling in from their cell phones to give updates on how stores were closing their doors so these homeless people wouldn't come in and possibly try on any of their clothes. "The Homeless Shopping Spree"... seriously what kind of great radio mind(s) came up with this idea?

Seriously if you have never heard this bit... you have no idea what O & A are capable of. And why they have such a big following.

No offense to Z100's Greg T but he doesn't hold a candle to what O & A's original stunt guy Spaz did for their show. Who made a great career move to quit working for O & A.

I'm not sure if Rick still is their producer or not but I miss all the jokes about his yellow Miata and the George Foreman Grill he gave to Anthony as a wedding gift. I know he had to find work elsewhere when O & A were off the air, but still under contract, but if he's not working with them, they should bring him back. Along with Jay Mohr (sorry if I have the spelling of his name wrong) and all of the impersonations Anthony used to do. I don't think I have ever heard someone who could impersonate so many people so well ever in my life.

And to those of you who think O & A don't have a following and aren't funny anymore all I have to say to you is "Ok Terrific"! ;D

they need to be off fm the xm only show was great

If I was a betting man, I would say that Sirius/XM is gonna keep "satellite only" jocks. Howard is the face of satellite radio, and exclusive to Sirius. I think people like O&A and Bubba the Love Sponge will be forced to pick. Either terrestrial, or satellite. But not both. Big Mel likes his talent to be exclusive to his paying customers. That's smart business. Do it with O&A, the pests will follow even if they have to pay.

I'll be shocked if O and A get re-upped by the end of this CBS contract. I also think in their delicate financial state, Mel may let his "satellite only" edict slide to get subscribers. I think O and A will be Sirius XM exclusive in about a year or 2.

Rick moved on to Hot 97 to work with Miss Jones - he was the genius behind that "tsunami song" and got fired as a result. He then moved on to San Francisco, I believe - not sure what he's up to these days...

Would this be the first time Booker did mornings since he co-hosted the AM drive show with gal pal Lynda Lopez on the ill-fated "Blink 102.7"?

I had no idea he was behind that. Never heard the song, but who didn't hear about it? That's what I miss about O & A... the show that got everyone talking about it whether they heard it or not.

First time back in NYC. He just got fired from being Q102's morning host in Philly, to make room for the Elvis Duran Show.

I never heard him on Q102, but heard him on K-Rock when he had his own show, which featured such bits as Danni doing the dirty weather. Jill the hot "intern" and others. To me it was finally the chance to hear Booker at his best.

Yes he did work at Z100 for a bit, but it just wasn't the right fit for him. His personality is a rock guy.

To me it might give me hope on terrestial radio if K-Rock were to bring him back on board. He had listeners who loved to call in, and were such a big part of his show. And after all, isn't that what radio is supposed to be all about... the listeners.

Or is it just all about the money? Personally I don't think O & A need XM. They don't need to be swearing to be funny. They have so much more talent than that.

Ok I'lll shut up before someone says... "Is that a train?"
