Chatter amongst the cronies claims that DLR is all but done, and CBS is thisclosetoannouncing the signing of Opie & Anthony to take over Roth's current affiliates.

This story will not die.

Look at the bright side Greg, Matty, and K&M....you got some pretty cool TV commercials out of it.

Don't be surprised.

anything has to be better. bcn needs to do something and QUICK. I don't even listen during any other day parts. I used to be "locked in" for the most part.
______________

Too bad O&A have gotten softer than their WNEW show. If Anthony could do some impressions and they all cut the bitching down they could do better than Howard. No doubt this will all be blamed on Oedipus! ;)

How is Hardy doing in afternoons?

I doubt Opie and Anthony will leave XM anytime soon.

The future of WBCN-104.1's morning programming is not a decision that will be made locally. It will be made by CBS Radio division president Joel Hollander. Only if he allows WBCN to replace David Lee Roth with a local morning show would 'BCN have any say on who would replace Roth.

Hmmm....local morning show....

Talent that people know.....

Content that would be compelling.....

I can see it now as I take a peek into my crystal ball......

Nik Carter returns to BCN paired with Joe Viglione!!!

(sorry....couldn't resist)

At least we'd have interesting banter about morning radio in the Olde Towne!!!!
______________

O&A are the only ones that will fit here, it's the right move.
I just wonder if O&A will land in other former Stern Markets (if it's true...)

O&A were bigger in NYC and Philly than here in Boston.

I agree O&A would bring the BCN ratings back up almost immediately because they are already well known and liked in Boston. Would their new morning show still be heard on XM as well though? or would it be exclusive to commercial radio? They would really have to do their XM show like they were on regular radio if they were to be on both, otherwise half of their show on BCN would be beeped out. Anyway, I personally would love to see them back on BCN in the morning. Roth just isn't cutting it.

The Count and Nik, Together At Last

CJV: Nik, I've got this great new Roscoe Shelton compilation

NC: Joe, you're SO out of touch, as usual. Who is Roscoe Shelton?

CJV: His vocal style influenced Otis Redding and Wilson Pickett -
He played with one of them at the Apollo...

NC: Who cares?

CJV: Here's a little Wilbert Harrison singing "Kansas City" for an
old, dear friend of ours who is challenged in the looks department.

NC: Don't you mean "Goin' Back to California?"

CJV: Hey Nik, is it a conflict of interest if we play the tapes
I recorded with Buddy Guy and Aerosmith's Joe Perry?

NC: Not if I can re-play my Carter Alan/Nik Carter interview with
Aerosmith. Who is Buddy Guy? Is he a country singer???

CJV: These are important African American artists that contributed to
the music we love

NC: Maybe the music you love, I've never heard of them.

CJV: Well, this is your education, Nik. What did John Lennon
say about George Harrison? "Working alongside two geniuses it couldn't
help but rub off" (paraphrased).

NC: If you're Schizophrenic or Quadrophrenic I'm all set!

Yes Ladies & Gentlement - this daily knock-down-drag-out makes
Pat Whitley And Marjorie ClapSoRude look civil by comparison!

It's Nik & Joe, they fight so often you'll think you're dysfunctional marriage
is a comfort zone!

Well the DID start out in NY. They got ratings in Boston and then went to NYC again. BUT the advantage was they still had fans in NYC. They didn't have to build from ground zero like Boston. PLUS they got syndicated out of NY. If you comapred their Boston ratings tho their WBEB ratings, you'd be saying the opposite. Not to mention that NYC is a much bigger market.

Softer? Opie is more evil than ever before! He's a black ninja baby!!! haha! They didn't bitch as much until a lot of the news hit the station then they went into a period of ranting. They hardly ever mention Howie now-a-days. They have hardly gotten soft.

Anthony's impressions...well, if most of the people Anthony did impressions of hadn't DIED, I suppose he'd be doing more. Dr. Smith imitations can only carry you so far. President Ronnie impressions carry less weight each day that passes since he to is dead.

Where have you read that they are leaving XM? They will not leave XM unless they get Howie money. They have recently said that they would have to get STUPID amounts of money to do a terrestrial show again. Even if terrestrial radio paid them their current amounts they would never do it. Opie HATES terrestrial radio with a passion.

Please, NIK in a knockout dragout fight?? Not unless it involves girls, string bikinis and a wading pool full of veggie oil.

They don't have any plans of leaving XM. Their show would be carried over to terrestrial radio.

or would it be exclusive to commercial
> radio?

I am guessing that if commercial radio doesn't adjsut thier morning time slot to O&A's 7-11 schedule, that they would play a day late or audible.com edited show. They switched from 6-10 to 7-11 so they could include more west coast listeners. XM had big complaints from people in the pst time zones becasue they were barely able to hear the show live.

They would really have to do their XM show like they
> were on regular radio if they were to be on both, otherwise

It would be impossible to do their current show live over commercial radio...even if they stopped swearing, the show content and words the FCC would fine because "they know what you were eluding to"...it would make the show almost impossible.
