O&A FIRED - Reported On Fan Site

This is the latest comment from Xm posted on FMQB. According to their spokesperson they are NOT fired. Whow knows if they are telling the truth or just fear whatever backlash could ensue if they admit to firing someone for going too far which would in the minds of many defeat the purpose of Satellite radio:

"Meanwhile, rumors abound about an impending announcement that O&A have actually been fired. "They have not been fired," XM spokesperson Nathaniel Brown told FMQB. "We expect them to return to the air in thirty days." Brown wouldn't commit to a 100% guarantee that O&A would be back after 30 days, as one never knows what could happen between now and then, but he couldn't stress enough that XM expects and wants them back on the air at the end of the suspension. He also pointed out that XM CEO Hugh Panero is a big free speech advocate and the suspension is a matter of making sure O&A understand the seriousness of the matter and not about the content that started this debacle."

I wonder if O and A will even want to go back on XM they have to be very steamed over their treatment whether it is right or wrong. From their perspective it seems anyone who says no to them in any situation is the enemy.

Since the O & A show is not the reason I am a subscriber, I will not be "demanding" anything from XM. Take the 80's and the Rock/Alt Rock stations, then I'll yell! LOL

If this were an FCC situation, I would definately write and call. I will always defend their rights in regards to Freedom of Speech...But XM has a right, as does Clear Channel, CBS, Sirius, etc to decide what content they will carry. XM is a company that is allowed to decide who they want on their channels. If the fans are upset, the fans should cancel. I'm sure they would get picked up "somewhere else"...They should own their own internet channel by now! Their deals should have also made sure they owned the content forever...so they could reuse it at their own discretion...

From XM's point of view, there aren't so many O & A subscribers that XM couldn't make it up somewhere. We are talking a fraction of the total XM memberships...

Nothing against O & A here, just not what I like to listen to. I did see them on David Letterman not too long ago, and thought they were funny though.

yes, obviously the 'e' on cume didn't make it. But I think the content would have easily shown that to be the case. Except for you dirty minds. :)

HOLD EVERYTHING!!

We will just have to wait until Rev. Al Sharpton gets around to telling us if O&A are fired. ;D
If they are fired, PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! allow Imus to return.

Thank you Mr. Sharpton.

Anthony (of the O&A show) is a member of wackbag.com, but I am not sure if he's a moderator or not.

He has rather smartly stayed off the message boards. Something tells me there won't be a peep from them until the 30 days are up. That is just a theory, of course. Obviously they don't know how to keep their mouths shut or they wouldn't be in this suspension in the first place.

Rumor seems to be floating around the message boards that upwards of 15,000 have cancelled specifically in protest, but this was "according to customer service reps" - so it is to be taken with a grain of salt. Or a salt lick, in this case.

That's a lot of money, but probably not a significant impact to XM, considering the high amount of churn they have.

At the a little over 2% churn, 15k is a drop in the bucket. But if that's all O&A had as listeners on XM then it's no loss really.
