O&A, KPNT, KTRS, and other ramblings.

First, after listening to "Rover" on the Point: At first I kind of enjoyed his show. After really listening now for some time, I have to say, THIS SUCKS. He is so under prepared. He takes, literally, 20 minutes just to set a bit up. And to boot, he is trying his best to sound like Howard. Even his laugh is trying to be Howard. I know he did well in Cleveland, but who put this guy and DAVID LEE ROTH on after Howwy? What a mistake. SO--if you had your choice for morning drive in that format, who would you put on? I would say Opie and Anthony! I think CBS is finally seeing the error - because they've finally put O&A on. Does anyone know how much coin they got to go on with CBS? I would LOVE to know.

KPNT sounds good. Musically, I think they're doing it right. However, all over the Country, it seems the Alternative format is pitiful. WNNX in Atlanta is sucking it up. Check out the 12+ rankings in Orlando. WOCL is dead last. What's wrong with alternative radio? Love to see what you say!

And finally, my guilty pleasure is KTRS and boy did they spike in the 12+ arena. I don't have the other break outs, but I would sure love to see them. UP - UP and UP for KTRS. We all thought this was going to be a disaster in December when we heard the news. I'm glad for them. I do have to say though; these new voice people are laugh out loud funny. It doesn't sound right. Have you heard it?

So there. You now have your work cut out for you. No one ever comes to our section, so I thought I'd ask some questions to spike our side. Have fun.

Just because the times Radiopoopoo posts here and Kramer posts on his board are around the same time, no matter what time of night or day, is purely coincidental.... :-X :-X

Most of the Alternative radio stations you see sucking are the station's who were already sucking, while hiding behind the big 12+ boost gained by Howard in the morning. (such as OCL)

I agree on Rover, his show is not at the level where it needs to be for syndication. He has lots of potential, and has demonstrated success when able to target one market (like Cleveland), but definitely not ready for major market syndication.

O/A have a great show and a big Northeast following, but I would LOVE to hear the Point put a locally executed show on for St. Louis. I realize the economics of radio are tough, but keeping content local is the only way radio will survive long-term.

The music on The Point is sounding bettter than they have in years but they REALLY need to flush Rover. I can understand why CBS is sticking with this turkey on their stations to save face for Hollander, but KPNT - I really don't know why they can't find something better. Personally, I'd love to see them go with a local, music intensive show.

Historically, KTRS has never done anything. Latest book has them at #5! Sure, its baseball, but that doesn't matter. That NUMBER is what matters.

KPNT is sucking.

KSHE is doing it up.

KMOX is going down a point every month. Check allaccess. Its not looking good. Who said the Cards can't buy you some TSL and CUME? Look back in past threads.
