O&A - Week 1 Impressions

Despite their false start, O&A have about a week of mornings at WEDG under their belt. Shredd & Ragan are sleeping in, and are doing their schtick in afternoons.

So, what are your impressions?

Are O&A an improvement over S&R in the morning?

Will O&A threaten Norton & Co.?

Will S&R rule in afternoons, or will people miss a music-intensive drive home?

Was this move money well spent by Citadel?

Who will be the first WEDG jock to go when cost-cutting begins?

Despite their false start, O&A have about a week of mornings at WEDG under their belt. Shredd & Ragan are sleeping in, and are doing their schtick in afternoons.

So, what are your impressions?

>>>S & R could be back on mornings in a year.

Are O&A an improvement over S&R in the morning?

>>>Not unless making fun of gays, minorities, the mentally handicapped and foreigners is considered funny, relevant, topical or entertaining. Here's something that would be a hoot... how 'bout if one these asshats gets stabbed in the eye with an icepick.... bwahhhhhh, oh what comic effect that would create... of COURSE I'm kidding... it's extremism, and it's certainy NOT fun, which is just my point.

Will O&A threaten Norton & Co.?

>>>Hard to say. Maybe. It's more than likely Norton will be the butt of their wrath, but
Norton's audience might be more "mature" and find O&A to be the garulous morons they really are.

Will S&R rule in afternoons, or will people miss a music-intensive drive home?

>>>Here's where S&R may break it wide open, knocking off Bulldog & Mensa Boy and taking
every listener under the age of 35 away from Sandy Palooza and getting a synidcation deal.

Was this move money well spent by Citadel?

>>>Fey!!! Who knows what the deal was. For all we know, it could be barter.
It could be that the compensation is drawn from XM in a deal that would have XM paying
O&A for their appearance on WEDG and WEDG clearing XM inventory.

Who will be the first WEDG jock to go when cost-cutting begins?

>>>Does any one jock really have to go?

What it is...

So, what are your impressions?
So far, a mix. The suits always say it's cheaper to syndicate than have live/local. Of course they do. The show is not bad, clearly different than the potty mouth XM version. XM may have other shows (and I think they do) syndicate to terrestrial, where appropriate.

Are O&A an improvement over S&R in the morning? Right now , its a push. I like S/R. Live and local done right. They are a great show.

Will O&A threaten Norton & Co.? Possibly. I agree with previous poster that the 'mature' audience of 97 Rock will not drift to the dark side.
During bills season, however, is a different story. Friggin training camp practices are sold out...

Will S&R rule in afternoons, or will people miss a music-intensive drive home? I love having S/R as an afternoon option. I flip between dude rock and talk radio wanna-bes on GR (during Sabres), and even BEN. The show has so far morphed into a good fit on afternoons.
The next step is to blend more national issues into their show to attract syndication....

Was this move money well spent by Citadel? Jury is still out
Who will be the first WEDG jock to go when cost-cutting begins? Doubt they will go, but i cant imagine nights/overnights not being on autopilot or demote to part-time.

Since S&R are in pm drive now.. that would be killer to have them syndicated. Too bad they don't work for CBS, they could roll them out on many of the Free FM's

Sorry I didnt notice this post on Oand A so I reposted it here...-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I like it so far, alot!!! The EDGE needed to make some noise without swinging the ax on their talanted air staff.. If anything this will give the familiar jocks more exposure which is good.. If this works, I think you could see them moving Val and Bull back together again in the noontime for a more talk oriented show.. They both did very well together in their drive time together so I think it work very well.. The only downer is the music, but as long as Adam 12 is doing the night shift, and they keep it fresh with newer rock I will be appeased.. Kudos Evil Jim for making some very bold moves with the station, I think he was the cure for what ailed them... And he can also play off the fact Opie used to do the morning show way back in the day on 103.3, of course then again not many would probably remember... Thats my loony thoughts on the EDGE.. Its great to be back...See Ya
