Oakland A's baseball on radio

Should KCBS 740 AM or a station in the bay area with a strong signal should take over the radio broadcast rights to air the A's in 2007? WCBS 880 AM airs the Yankess. Why can't the same thing happen on KCBS?

better yet, why don't they let 106.9 free fm or movin 99.7 play the games?

I don't think KCBS would work, just because it's so news orientated. For me at least, whenever there is a traffic jam, I like the idea of hitting KCBS on my preset.

The A's radio stations plain and simply stink. I live in the Sunset of SF and can't hear a damn thing from either of the radios in my house.

It is an outrage.

Putting it on 106.9 is a great idea, but FM sports just seems a little unconventional. I'd like that a lot more.

When you're a playoff-bound team and can't even sell out your own stadium (except for this past weekend) even after reducing the capacity for baseball seating, it's not likely a 50kw stick is gonna want your games on. Sounds like the A's current broadcast arrangement is appropriate. If they ever get a new stadium and the Mausoleum is demolished, then they might go after a bigger stick.

1220 was supposed to go to 50k, but got tied-up in red-tape. The process has resumed and the increase & new transmitter site are moving forward... of course, that doesn't help for this season :(

In defense of the A's, they HAVE sold-out the coliseum this year. Attendance has been great and the team has played well. Obviously.

The reason they aren't on a larger station is purely & simply $$$$

...and there's my 2cents

!220 is a terriable radio station for the A'S

No promotion but at least they changed to air all games live!! instead of starting them at 6pm to air a talk show nobody listened too ???

To clarify the above, the A's have sold out some games.
PS are the A's sweating after last night's comeback by the M's ? :)
