Oh. My. God. Hank, please, are you serious? KFOX?????

KFOX management wouldn't even bend their schedule to allow the Sharks to broadcast their East Coast road games that start before 5 PM. Even with a booster, the station's coverage in the 680 Corridor is marginal, and that area represents a key portion of the team's fan base.

You'd be hard pressed to come up with a worse idea than this one. The new owners want to reach *more* fans with their broadcasts in order to compete with the Giants. This would be almost as bad as not being on the radio at all.

What about station like KGO, the other KNBR (1510), Free-FM, or even Max FM, now there's a way to boost the rating on that station.

Just my two cents.

KGO doesnt need them. If anything, they would lose listeners if the A's were on KGO.

1510 is the mighty little Piggie AM simulcast (KPIG[AM] Piedmont). You mean 1050, the station once known and still legally known as KTCT San Mateo. I'm not sure how crowded the 1050 PBP schedule is, but it would certainly be a complement to the Giants on 680. All bets are off now, though, with the upcoming Cumulus takeover.

The A's aren't about to land on radio real estate like KGO, so don't even go there.

Free FM? Maybe. It's been rumored that 106.9 and 1550 would be a combo that could pick up those games. It's as good a bet as any in this race.

KGO certainly wouldn't sign the A's because it would mess their schedule up. And the listeners wouldn't like it. My bet is 1550 or FreeFM.

And, since I started that rumor, I can now write about it elsewhere! Ain't these boards the absolute bee's knees?

Or both. Ken Pries, in charge of broadcasting for the A's said months ago that it looked like they were going to be on both AM and FM. And, that is really the only scenario out there that makes sense for both whatever station(s) get the A's and the A's themselves.

It's a great way to get the FreeFM name out there. Also, a station with absolutely nothing on it at 1550 would probably let the A's throw whatever extra programming they want on there. Marty Lurie, who has done the pre, pre-game shows for the A's the last several years already has his Inside Baseball show on 1550. He even had Ken Macha on it a couple weeks ago.
