now 106.3 is vibe 106 with oldies dance music. i heard boyz ii men, soul ii soul, bell biv devoe. and some disco with kc & the Sunshine Band, kool and the gang, and some obscure stuff like andrea true connection.

but then there was prince, cyndi lauper, irene cara, billy ocean, and rick astley.

what is russ trying to do again? i know he has two strikes against him with the many formats and monikers the frequency has had.

also, what is he doing with wbtu? i do not like country music so i do not listen.

This may have been in the game plan all along. Think about it...the station has been through so many formats in the past couple years that going to an all Spanish-language format, even on a temporary basis, would clear the slate so-to-speak. I have to admit, I wondered why Oasis would place another regional Mexican format in Fort Wayne with a crosstown competitor, especially since the format has no previous track record in the market.

Rhythmic oldies, on the other hand, would be more fitting in Fort Wayne. It sounds like this format has the potential to be successful like Cincinnati's old Mojo 94.9. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

I learned long-ago to never under-estimate Russ-O! Consider, that the long trail of attempts and formats on 106.3 in Columbia City MAY have FAR MORE to do with that station’s “rimshot” status and lower power. It’s not hard to figure why “Lite Hits” or adult standards failed to score on that facility.

Oasis appears to be reading the marketing textbook... Give the intended a reason to move around the dipole on their FM radio to maximize a marginal signal that they really want to hear.

Sounds like he is copying The Track format from Indy.

Get real! The Track in Indy is a variety hits.. this station sounds more like a Rhythmic A/C.. or "MOViN"

You have GOT to be kidding. This has been tried before ("Groovin' Oldies" on 94.1) and failed. And listening to it now, the same thing will most likely happen. This is Fort Wayne...as consertative as you can get...the City of Churches. A CHR can't survive here for crying out loud. If you ain't Rock, Country or some form of AC, you ain't gonna make it.

And before you bring up the success of HOT, look at what they're doing now in revenue and ratings. Not nearly where they were just 3 years ago. And also keep in mind that WILD moved somewhat in that direction too, but kept in songs from the late 90's and the 00's.

I wish them luck, but I don't see it happening.

AMP still owns these stations and is required to be in control by the FCC. Maybe AMP
cracked the whip? There's much more to this story!

Being in control constitutes little more than having a management level employee running the station, maintaining station logs/transmitter equipment and taking care of public affairs programming/political ads. LMA's can dictate the format, but that's usually done upfront.

Haven't seen ANY reference to the Petition to Deny filed by 3 Amigos broadcasting.

Net reading shows they are levelling charges of Mafia type strongarm tactics to require them to pay a quarter million dollars to keep Russ out of Spanish language broadcasting.

Russ denies it. Makes a good read though.

This is why the format changed.

au contraire. when steve shine owned it and it was adult standards, they had pretty high [9.0] twelve plus ratings.

i won't break the rules here, but i have the arbitron books in front of me.

Even rated the most listened to Nostalgia station in the country at one point. 106.3 as a Nostalgia station was the top of the peak when it came to programming that demo.

I think this will work out to be a nice little cluster for Oasis.

Rhythmic, Rhythmic Oldies and Country. Especially with a market that doesnt have an Urban AC this will do well for him.
