Rumor is there's a note due soon. The bank will spin the format wheel. If you were the bank, what would you do with 105.9

The bank will not pick a format. The bank, if in control of the station due to default, will name an administrator to operate the station while it is being sold.

But if a note is due, the bank will first decide if foreclosure is the best route to take. They might accept renegotiated terms if they think they will get more back by working with the current station owners. They might tell the debtor that they will work together to find a buyer that will pay most of the debt.

The last thing they want is to take over the station.

Unlike a car or home loan in default, business loans are not backed by a marketable item such as a vehicle or a house. Cars and houses can sit for a few weeks while a buyer is sought. A station might sit for months, and if it is no longer even operating it loses most of its value.

Apparently they're back on the air. it's a Pity because I like the music but the station is so low budget they probably didn't even notice that it was off the air for 8 hours

WNKN with a 2.0 share in the new Cincinnati ratings. And not bad in the last Dayton book either. Don't know how they are billing but clearly there is still an audience for 60's and 70's music in this region.

Or could be the real reason you don't like The Oasis is because they play 60s music that competes with the station you work for? Just curious.
No. As a listener, I really enjoyed the Classic country and as a pragmatic broadcast executive I understand that it's a huge waste of bandwidth to have the current format on that stick. I wish them nothing but the best, but when I want to hear the Crystals and Herman's Hermits I'd listen to DJO. Talking Heads, White Horse , and Supertramp? One of these things is not like the other. I understand that the station Jeff ripped off the format from in Arizona has had some moderate success.... Cincinnati ain't Arizona. Variety Hits has been done and has failed on much better signals. I have a long love for 105.9. I don't want to see it fail again.
Lol.I listen to Marty on WDJO and he is good.
What's funny is he mocks WNKN The Oasis for only getting a 2.0 share but his station WDJO would almost kill for a 2.0 and he knows it

Marty: I'm curious, if it was your call what format would you choose for WNKN?
Based on the signal footprint, country is the only option. (Not an opinion.... based on a fairly recent research study) I'm not sure what flavor but that signal covers more corn and cows than people. Hubbard does a nice job with Wolf, but you can't hear it where it matters.... that is probably the best play.

Priceless...it's nice that 2 independent broadcasters are trying to do something. Plenty of room for both... I just think it's stupid to play Sade back to back with Bobby Vee
I heard them play "Jimmy Loves Mary Anne" by Looking Glass (a song that never got north of #30) followed by a liner promoting the songs you "don't hear anywhere else" into Bon Jovi "You Give Love A Bad Name." Yeah. NOBODY plays that one. It makes no sense and it just sounds like a bad hobby station that somebody threw together.
