You know, I really don't mind a HIP FUNKY Old School station (sure beats the tired, worn out "gangsta" blubbering on most so-called "Hip-Hop/R&B" stations today.) But just when you think this station might actually have something going for it, they break in with these KCCN simulcasts. Yes, we know President Obama was born in Hawaii. And Hawaiian music ain't bad. At all. But if you really wanna keep a kickass party mix going, you gotta have SOME continuity.....
The very fact I've been able to name these tunes in the first 10 seconds of their airplay with no virtual/aural assistance speaks well for my pop musical knowledge
Turns out Cox Broadcasting owns both WPUP in Athens and KCCN in Honolulu

And then the web feed cuts out. Interesting stunt though...probably the most interesting one I've heard all year. They really should have started this after the election last year......
Hmmm....but from what I read about the President's actual music tastes, they're just a tad more eclectic than THIS (Grateful Dead, Jay-Z, John Coltrane, Metallica, Rolling Stones, Frank Sinatra, U2, etc. Not necessarily the "Jammin' Oldies" sound this station has taken before my very ears...so far.....
