OBIT: Al Wilson, "Show and Tell", "The Snake"

I was really surprised when I heard "Show and Tell" used as bumper music music on Rush's program the other day. Then he mentioned that Al had died and talked about playing his songs during his dj days.

"The Snake" was a hit during my first dj job back in the day, and I remember playing it. He was a good entertainer. It's a shame it did not all come together for him to have a few more hits.

"Show and Tell" is one of my all time favorites. Several years ago Al called into Rush's show, and he talked about how after all of those years he had finally gotten the rights to his old masters. A minor hit I remember playing during my old DJ days was "I've Got a Geeling that We'll be Seeing each Other Again".

True, but I've heard "Show and tell" fairly regularly over the years on various stations, particularly the defunct "Mojo 94-9" in Cincy.

I don't know why this is the first time I'm hearing about this... ???

How sad. I love Al Wilson's stuff, and "Show and Tell" is a great song! RIP Al Wilson.

I wouldn't say "Show and Tell" is played regularly, but I hear it on KOOL 94.5 in Phoenix maybe every other week, as part of either 70's Sunday or 70's at Seven.

I don't hear it anywhere around here (Nashville) anymore, and haven't for years. I don't think we have a format-appropriate station that could play it anymore. We have an "old school" R&B station, but I would need to sit through a lot of stuff I am not familiar with, just to have a chance of hearing it. I believe the station I referenced here plays adult R&B, which basically means no rap! Otherwise, I believe they play mostly current R&B. Aside from that, their signal is weak, and I cannot pick it up here, and I live just over the county line in a neighboring county from Nashville.
