Obit: Allan Arbus, 95, Maj. Sidney Freedman on MASH

In a similar situation to Jonathan Winters being referred to as 'Star of Mork and Mindy Dies' in online news stories, the link to Arbus' obituary had the headline 'MASH Star Dies of Heart Failure'...which had me thinking something happened to Alan Alda until I read the story.

The caption beneath the photo notes that Arbus was married to Diane Arbus. But Diane committed suicide in 1959. Who is the lady Arbus is seen embracing in the photo? Given Arbus' mane of gray, I would assume it's not Diane. Or was Arbus gray even in the '50s, when he would have been in his 30s? Please, somebody explain, or I won't sleep tonight.

It was one of their daughters.
Arbus' second wife, Mariclare, was a character actress in TV(including 'MASH') and movies. His first wife (with whom I am not familiar) seems to have been famous in her line of work, at least.

If you had taken the time to read the article before posting, it stated that daughter Amy (PICTURED ABOVE) was the one who comfirmed her father's death to the news media (New York Times). The article also stated that he and Diane Arbus separated in 1959 but she didn't commit suicide until 1971.

Arbus, like his first wife Diane, was a professional photographer. I believe that's how they met, and began collaborating. Allan's acting career came later in life.
