Mr. Callas died Thursday in Las Vegas.

Not only was this versatile comedian on countless Tonight Shows during the Johnny Carson era but he was a guest star on many TV shows over the years, including: The Love Boat, The Munsters, Love, American Style, The Monkees, Hart To Hart and the list goes on. He was 83 (or 87 as one source lists his birth date as 12/20/1924).

The SF Chronicle obit mentioned that Johnny Carson blackballed Callas from The Tonight Show after he pushed Carson out of his chair as part of the hilarity. Charlie's comedy could be a bit manic.

I believe "Candid Camera" had Charlie portraying a poor man at a diner, who could only afford a donut....he was asking patrons if he could dunk the donut in their coffee. That would certainly be "taking a chance."
