Obit: Dan Seals 1948-2009 RIP

I've just learn that We've lost Dan Seals.of England Dan and John Ford Coley. hit songs like “I’d Really Love to See You Tonight,” “Nights Are Forever Without You,” and others and later as himself in country music, with hits like “Bop,” and a classic duet “Meet Me in Montana,” with Marie Osmond, and others,I've always like his tunes in both music genders. So long Dan, Rest in peace.

Here's New York Times with the story.

Time to dig out the cassette collection and give Ol Dan a listen.

I thought about him a couple of weeks ago, wondering how he was doing. So sorry to see this today.

Although his pop success happened first, I found it interesting how he considered himself foremost a country singer who had some pop hits.

My favorite: "They Rage On," one powerful song.

I liked all the songs mentioned except "Nights Are Forever Without You". Too loud.

The Charlotte Observer had a photo of him and Marie together, and I remember thinking that's when country sounded good. Then I realized: that was about as pop a country song as there ever was. At the time. It doesn't matter. I liked it.
