Obit: Doris Singleton Isaacs, aka: Carolyn Appleby on "I Love Lucy", at 92

Re: Obit: Doris Singleton Isaacs, aka: Carolyn Appleby on "I Love Lucy", at 92

She was also the mother of Polly (Chip's wife) and Sally (Mike's wife) on "My Three Sons."

She played a bunch of roles on "Dick Van Dyke" but my favourite besides "Lucy" was when she was on "All In The Family." She played the juror that Edith was sequestered with for a night, when Edith was on jury duty.

Her death leaves Shirley Mitchell, AKA Marion Strong as the last contemporary reoccurring actor of "I Love Lucy." (Excluding Keith Thibodeaux of course)

She was in one of my favorite Twilight Zone episodes, "A Kind of a Stopwatch", the one where a character named McNulty gets a hold of a stopwatch that when it's button is pressed, it stops all movement except for the guy holding it.

Miss Singleton played the office secretary who was not fond of McNulty. One of the Twilight Zone's truly memorable episodes.

Lucy fans will always remember her fondly for being Carolyn Appleby, and rightly so. I'll remember her for the stopwatch episode. A terrific character actress.
