Obit: Elmer Lynn Hauldron (1922-2011)

For those who don't recognize the name, he was the Empire Carpets "588-2300" guy for almost 40 years. He died yesterday of natural causes at his home in Evanston. He was 89.

He didn't own the company, nor was he a professional actor or a carpet installer. He did, however, write the jingle and owned the small ad agency that Empire contracted with.

Wow I had no Idea the Empire Carpet guy who has been in LA since the 1990's and in Norcal since 2003 got his start in Chicago. I always thought it was a local business but I 've been proven wrong by the Youtube Vids showing that Empire Carpets was in Chicago since the 1970's
