Robert E. Lessner, 77, of Wappingers Falls, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on July 25, 2011. The son of the late Lorraine and George Lessner, he was born January 9, 1934 in New York City. After serving as a sound and recording engineer with the United States Air Force Band in Washington, D.C., Bob worked in New York City as a sound engineer in television and films, including the cult classic "The Brain That Wouldn't Die." He also spent six years as the Chief Sound Engineer for Allen Funt's "Candid Camera." In 1967, Bob and his brother formed Beacon Broadcasting Corporation and became the owners of WBNR (AM) and in 1970, WSPK-FM (K104), subsequently buying WENE (AM) and WMRV (AM) and WMRV (FM) in Binghamton, New York and WTHT in Portland, Maine.
