A good radio guy who'd finish his public service gig in New York City on Friday afternoons and no matter the weather, head north to Glens Falls, New York to pull weekend shifts on WENU FM 101.7.
He, as did I, loved the Adirondacks and we both worked for WIPS-AM 1250 in Ticonderoga. Alas, like much of the region, unless your a bear or an inmate, theres not much for you, so we both ended up in South Jersey, working the adult contemporary gig at WWBZ-AM. His good natured attitude was needed, as we both took two years of grief from the former staff that was forced out of the tick-infested studio/transmitter site in Brotmanville. While the numbers weren't huge, we were part of the group that got the FCC to finally give us the 5k to cover Vineland, at the time the states largest city in terms of square miles.
I headed to Florida; he stayed, returning to serve with the local school board helping kids who needed a helping hand. Thanks, bud. I ll raise a glass or two for ya. Rest well
