Ingle was probably best known for his portrayal of Edward Quartermaine (he took over the role from the late David Lewis) on General Hospital. Before his acting career, he actually taught acting at Hollywood High, then later at Beverly Hills High; several now-known actors were in his classes, including Albert Brooks, Swoosie Kurtz, Joanna Gleason, Stefanie Powers, and more. Besides several films, Ingle was seen in other TV roles on Dallas, Days of Our Lives, and The Drew Carey Show, among others.

After being away from General Hospital for a few years, Ingle returned in the last few weeks to play Edward again, but sadly for the last time. His character died on-screen a week ago:
