Obit: Johnny Duncan @ 67

Country music singer Johnny Duncan, who had a string of country hits in the 1970s, died Monday of a heart attack at a Fort Worth hospital. He was 67.

His hits included ``She Can Put Her Shoes Under My Bed Anytime," ``Thinkin' of a Rendezvous," and
``It Couldn't Have Been Any Better."

Some of Duncan's cousins included Jimmy Seals of Seals & Croft and country singer Dan Seals.

In 1976 a pop station I listened to switched to country. I kept listening to the station and the first singer that I really liked was Johnny Duncan. I loved all the songs he did with Janie Fricke. Then a couple years latter "She Can Put Her Shoes" came out, I think that's one of the best country songs of all time.

I'm sad to hear of his passing. I will always remember Johnny Duncan as the artist who turned me into a lifelong country fan.

I hadn't heard that he was related to Dan Seals.

There isn't a lot of older country I don't like, but my favorite of his #1s was It couldn't have been any better

Sorry to hear about his death. I grew up in Hico TX about 20 miles from Dublin where Johnny was from. I remember him form his local appearances when we were both in High school.

This is the first I have heard of his death. It is sad to think that the current state of country music focuses so much on the new artist that radio and for that matter CMT and GAC do not even acknowledge the death of someone like Johnny. My favorite Johnny Duncan song is "Stranger", it is a great song and he did a tremendous job singing it.

I agree "Stranger" was great. It really irks me to know the demand for our kind of music is out there but totally ignored. What do you do though?
