A composer/conductor who was more well-known for his sheer volume of work for films and stage productions, he actually had time for a bit of TV work as well. He appeared in a 1996 episode of The Nanny as 'Alan Neider' and a 1997 episode of Caroline in the City as himself. Hamlisch also provided music scores and backgrounds for several TV specials, award shows, and music specials.

Hamlisch was truly rewarded for his work over the years: 3 Emmys, a Grammy, 3 Oscars (all in one night!), a Tony, a Pulitzer, a CableACE, and 2 Golden Globes, among others.

...he also co-wrote "California Nights," Lesley Gore's last Billboard Top 40 hit and the song she lip-synched on her Batman guest appearance of 19 January 1967...
