Collins worked at the wire for the Associated Press for fifteen years before launching Litchfield's WZBG. He also spent eight years as the general manager of Quinnipiac's WQUN. Prior to his stint at the AP, Collins also worked at WICC/Bridgeport.
According to the AP, his death at his home on June 17 "was poisoning by ethylene glycol, and antifreeze," and a police chief cited "unusual circumstances" that were beign investigated by detectives.
