Obit: William Windom, 88

No one mentioned Windom was in one of my favorite Star Trek Episodes; The Doomsday Machine.

A real gentleman. Had the pleasure of meeting him one time when he was on the national tour of a play and came to Buffalo to promote it...he talked not only about it, but about the theater in general and about network television, the venue which brought him fame. He was one of the most talented and intelligent actors around. He'll be missed.

??? I really thought Windom had died years ago. I thought that's why he stopped appearing on Murder She WroteI was obviously wrong about that one. RIP. Talented actor.

I have him on that #2 DVD release of the original Five-O, in an episode entitled "Which Way Did They Go?," 12/24/69 (this one is one of my most favorites).

Not to mention his role in the short-lived and underappreciated It's My World and Welcome To It.
Based on the works of James Thurber, one of the more notable natives of my former home of
Columbus, Ohio.

"My World" was one of my all time favorite shows and I'm still waiting impatiently for it to come out on DVD. Hell, I'd even put up with an old VHS media release.

The last time I saw My World was in the late 80's just after Syndex rules took effect.
WGN would substitute it for Cheers on their national feed.

I also just remembered that he played an Andria Doria survivor in a very funny Seinfeld episode.
Mid to late 1990's, and last time he worked I am guessing.

1996 was the last time he appeared as Dr. Seth Hazlett (Murder She Wrote), but Windom appeared in guest roles about a dozen times in the aughts - last appearance 2006, according to imdb.
