Obit: Z-100 Alum J.R. Nelson

very sorry to hear...
he was part of the early days, I interviewed him for the monthly Long Island NiteLife Magazine, the first big feature on Scott,Ross,Claire,Jon Bell, and J.R.,before they went from worst to first, so happy to have been there in the first few weeks,literally..
RIP,J.R....

Claire Stevens wrote on her Facebook page that she is "numb after hearing of JR Nelson's death. We had remained very dear friends since our Zoo days... Last time we spoke, he was very optimistic that the tumors which had shrunk. RIP my dear friend. I'll miss you terribly."

And Ross Brittain (currently hosting mornings at WOGL/Philadelphia) writes: "Sorry to hear my friend and original Z-100 production director, J-R Nelson, passed away today... cancer. Give him a couple of days, he'll be playing keyboards with a band in heaven. Miss ya, bud."

Throughout the 90s, JR was the main imaging voice for WMJI-FM in Cleveland... he had a voice that could give Charlie Van Dyke a run for his money. :'(
