Obscure 80's tune.

I hope some of you fellow 80's KROQ listeners can help with a song. A couple of us were talking last night about one hit wonders and obscure tunes that only got played very rarely. On 80's KROQ there was this rinky dink tune that featured a guy on a telephone. He wasn't singing, but talking to his father about being in jail. There was this strange music in the background. The lyrics went something like this :

" Hello Dad, I'm in jail
Hello Dad, I'm in jail
Hello Dad
I'm calling from jail
Hello Dad, it's me and I'm in jail
Say hi to Mom from jail
Hello Dad
Happy birthday Dad, from jail
Hello Dad, I'm in jail........."

My friends thought I was b/s ing them. Do any of you old skoolers remember this one?

The artist name is "Was Not Was" and the title is "Dad I'm in Jail".

I remember that song being featured near the end of the movie "Pump Up The Volume"!! :)

If anyone remembers the song "Walk the Dinosaur" or "Spy In the House of Love", that's the same group. That is a bizarre track, to say the least. A friend of mine had the cassette tape, but he didn't see the humor in it.<P ID="signature">______________
