Observation about tonite's Network Newscasts on The Big 3 Networks

Just an observation about tonite's newscasts on CBS, NBC, and ABC. Both CBS and ABC led their newscasts with the story about the gunman that killed himself and 8 others at a beer distribution facility in Manchester, Connecticut and then followed that story up with BP Oil Day 106 while NBC led their news with BP Oil Day 106 and then followed that story up with the tragedy in Manchester, Connecticut.

Their sources are all the same. They are told what to report, and they report it.

Told by who?

In most cases, the executive producer or news director will make the final call on the order of the stories. Your suggestion it comes from higher up is not accurate, and only happen on rare occasions. Other issues, such as demographics, strength in certain regions, etc., can play a part in story selection. However, it is a call that is made in the newsroom 99% of the time.

And the three all just happen to run the same exact stories in the same exact order, except when the newsroom decides that it probably shouldn't look like they are marching in lock step.

It all comes from the AP. I'm especially impressed when we see the kindly, grey haired type with such great wisdom. :D

Not to mention they appear to have the exact same sponsors - Abicort, Levitra, etc.

LOL - If you aren't eating a pill to stand up nice and straight you are using steroids to keep it there with the hi fi high, the lights down low and a news on.
