Observations of K259CF South Fresno

Much better coverage of the Sewage Pond next door as well as the Oreilly's Auto parts store down the block at 4323 N Blackstone. Well it does cover the Fashion Fair Mall.

Well from Blackstone and Holland on that nice tower on top of the drum shop with all those antennas, UHF 4 Bay 2 of them , CB on top and KKDJ 70 feet in the middle, not 105 feet like the FCC filed, oh no mister Bill. like I said before it has a 3 miles radius, better north-west from there with 6 or more miles due to no interference from KIOO Porterville.

the FCC has just granted them a CP to move to Channel: 272D (102.3).

I'm only hearing Spanish on 102.3 but I'm antenna crippled. Seems to me the switch should be very simple. Assuming the TX is frequency agile, but the antenna probably needs tuning to the new freq.
I'm hearing both 99.7 and 102.3 simulcasting today and 102.3 is not coming from Blackstone and Holland, its a very weak signal and sounds like it coming from South-East Fresno.

I Meant to say South-West Fresno, I heard it around Divisadero and Fulton driving, got on 180 heard it going north on 41 then after McKinley it was gone, it was like a very weak temporary transmitter, KBLO Corcoran was bleeding in on it most of the time.

I don't think the change will give any appreciable increase in coverage. His ERP is less than half. And, I wonder why that is. ??

That is a good question about the power being less than half, the only thing is that 102.3 will have less interference with KBLO Corcoran , than 99.7 did with KIOO Porterville, because KIOO is much higher (1263 ft above sea level) and has more power (25KW) than KBLO (19KW) which is on the valley floor(638 ft. above sea level) and another factor is there's no strong adjacent channel like KCIV 99.9.

The application says that the interference contour with respect to KLBN is 3.5 meters above the ground, and I suspect that's the highest power they can run, given the antenna they are using.

Happy to hear the frequency is moving...

Sadly I'm forced to listen to K259CF-FM (calling themselves the defunct KKDJ) every day at work. While I don't expect the new frequency to be too distant for my work to pick up, I will be happy that KCIV 99.9 should no longer have the very harmful interference it's had now ever since 99.7 came in. I respect K259CF-FM for offering to purchase radios for 99.9 listeners who couldn't get their programming due to the interference and hope this shift to 102.3 will remedy the situation.

If your work is close enough to K259CF to have interference on 99.9 there will be no problem for your workmates to hear the fake KKDJ on 102.3. And you won't have anymore interference on 99.9. Too bad you didn't take up any offer to give you a radio that would give you good reception of KCIZV. Whatever the radio they offered to give is obviously better than the one you are using.. I would've told them,"I have interference on 4 different radios, please replace them all' lol. I do feel sorry for you having to hear it all day at work.

I am also glad they are moving to 102.3, now I will be able to hear KIOO 99.7 Porterville without any interference with my roof top antenna.

When I turned in around 10am they were playing different songs on air than what was being played on the app. The morning show was playing as normal on both though.

12:48pm on still no 102.3 and the pop up is still up on web site. I actually listen after B&T for the few songs 95.7 doesn’t play and the comedic value Verne brings. Hope they get it worked out, anybody have some inside info on the delay?

I wonder if they are having second thoughts, Verne today didn't mention it ota, just used the calls with 99.7, maybe they are thinking now that even though 102.3 will solve interference problems in S/E Fresno with KIOO, but with only 40 percent of the original power they could lose some of N/W Fresno, like New Fig Garden to 99 / Herndon and North Fresno to Copper ave.
