Some observations:

1) Looks like they are hitting a 35-50 age group demographics. The other one they were looking at is not going to listen to this.

2) Looks like The Peak will have some good competition with this station. I hope it works out.

Overall, I am mixed (no pun intended). As for me, it's not what I thought they would do. I mean, this is adult hits to a t, but not my style. That's why if I had my own radio station, I know the perfect image campaign for my station: There is a right way to do a mix, and there is a wrong way .... Welcome to the right way, Max 106.1.

This is like thier Cassette Classics weekend all the time. Sad to say it, I am going to miss Cool Pop. To win me back, add more of today music then we have a deal :)

This brings back memories of

"WKBO IS DEAD"

And that weekend of James Dean by the Eages on the old Starview before the flip to classic rock.

These folks have'nt a shred of decency..

Unlistenable.

I totally agree with ya ..... It makes me shiver to think that I have to have WINK 104 has a preset.

"This sucks more than anything that has ever sucked before." -- ButtHead

On my worst day in this business, now I know at the very least I can still get down on my knees and thank the Good Lord Almighty that I do not work for that company. Just when you think Citadel Broadcasting had no more feet in which to shoot themselves, they do this. One could hardly imagine a more poorly-executed format switch. What's next, gang? Misspelled billboards? The boys and girls at RED have got to be relieved--at least their launch wasn't noticed at all.

It must have taken the brightest programming minds in the company to devise this concept: Take a station that's already soft rock, and re-introduce it as...softer rock. That's like a restaurant manager reading the customer comment cards and saying, "Well, it looks like people don't like the veal. Let's keep the veal, but put powdered sugar on it."

I'll be setting up a pool, predicting the next format switch. Anyone in?

See Matt I told ya!

I told ya Matt, you said Oldies 96.1...and I said you'd be wrong. Sorry bud. You're like 0 for 26 but I still like reading your posts!

Write on Matt!

The new Mix 106.7 sounds very similar to Philadelphia's Sunny 104.5. From what I've heard so far, it's a mix of the 60s, 70s, and some 80s.

YOU got it bro!

I can't say how I know, but Citadel actually researched Cool Pop *after* they put it on the air. Their discovery: they screwed up. This format was heavily researched *before* its introduction here; what a concept!

I predict MIX 106.7 will knock The Peak down a few, and they'll realize that The Peak has peaked (and I liked them... too bad). Also, Oldies 90-s*cks... your days are numbered. I would also watch for the female numbers on the River to decline. WARM, I'm sorry to say that you will lose some Harrisburg listeners. (Sorry, Larry... you're my old pal, but this MIX move was inevitable.)

Good luck to MIX. I like what I'm hearing already. If I were still a jock, I'd hope for a chance to work there.<P ID="signature">______________

Listened more to it last night and this morning. Some interesting comments ...

1) Still depressing and not my mix ..... I heard it last night and actually heard a Backstreet Boys song. I'm not kiddin ya.

2) They said that they will mix the variety daily. That should be interesting around here.

3) All the DJ's are still there. Ed Coffee (sp) was still doing his morning thing. And the girl after his show is still there. Nice to see they kept their jobs.

Anymore things I missed?

I don't like to see anyone displaced, but I tuned in to hear the new music mix yesterday morning and the morning show was very chatty for a soft AC, I didn'r stay long enough to hear any music. One of the things that makes Philadelphia's Sunny 104.5 work is that there is little talk and mostly music, which works on a station intended to be background music. The show would be better suited for a hot AC or top 40 station.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel that Ed Coffey is out of place on this station? I would have thought Citadel would have taken a "guy associated with rock radio" and put him on a rock station. He should have been the "heir apparent" to Stern on the X.

Please enlighten me...

What is the story around this reference?

Thanks!

Before a format flip, they ran a tape loop of "WKBO is dead"...
In retrospect, the tape loop probably got more listeners than Mix's new format.
