Ocean City, MD radio reception report

Since I last posted regarding this radio reception issue a year ago, I was planning to go visit there for summer vacation if things went right. Well, we just did yesterday. We took my first trip in more than twenty years to Ocean City, MD and I was very surprised on how far AM signals travel. I got WABC, WCBS, and WFAN using a digital Sony Walkman with good signal, but WHLI out of Long Island has the most superb signal, even on a very cheap radio! Also, KYW has also a good signal too.

As for FM, not much is going except for the locals. However, while on State Route 1 in Delaware when going to and coming home from the destination, I received two Baltimore FM stations on my Walkman. They were from Mix 106.5 and 98 Rock(WIYY), but the AC station 101.9 Lite FM out of Baltimore is only heard in the car radio because of the nearby 101.7 local from somewhere in Wilmington. I haven't checked out 104.3 which plays Smooth Jazz. These Baltimore FM stations were received while we were on the Delaware and Chesapeake Canal in St. Georges, DE(about 25 miles south of Wilmington).
I also received some traces from chs. 11 and 13.

It was a very fun time being in the beaches in Maryland, but we have plans to return there next time this time for a 2-day stay.

I presume you were on the Route 1 toll road between I-95 and Dover. The "nearby 101.7 local" is Kiss 101.7, which is licensed to Salem NJ but targets Wilmington.

I would be curious to know whether you can pick up 94.3 WILW from Wildwood, NJ. The reason I bring that up is that, when listening to the Saturday night dance classics show that is shared by WOGL and WILW, they have mentioned serving Ocean City, MD (not NJ - MD) along with NJ and DE beach towns on 94.3.

To me, that station would seem to be far too weak to cover that kind of distance. Just wondering if its hyperbole or if they really get that far south.
