OCT/NOV/DEC PPM

Oct/Nov/Dec PPM for 6+ is 1 KSNE, 2 KKLZ, 3 KWID, 4 KMXB, 5 KVEG, 6 KLUC, 7 KXPT, 8 KQRT, 9 KOMP, 10 KWNR. 25-54 is 1 KXPT, 2 KMXB, 3 KSNE, Tie 4 KKLZ KWID, 6 KOMP, 7 KVEG, 8 KLUC, 9 KQRT, 10 KPLV. 18-34 1 KWID, 2 KVEG, 3 KLUC, 4 KQRT, 5, KPLV, 6 KXPT, Tied 7 KMXB, KSNE, 9 KXTE.

hmmmmm is that KVEG AHEAD of KLUC again??!! The CBS boys still have some explaining to do.

my observations:
- What a non-player NOW turned out to be. Will/Can they last another 6 months?
- KKLZ Disco is dead, how else can the Point be beating you?
- Rivera: no signal still equals no ratings

There is no "Oct/Nov/Dec" PPM. The most recent book was December. October and November were separate books, and while you can average them, Arbitron does not publish multi-book averages... because it is a panel with most of the same people month to month.

Of course, incorrect information has been posted. So let's set the record straight:

Dec 25-54 - the first month of currency

1 KMXB
2 KSNE
3 KKLZ (less than a half share separate 1-3) - KSNE got a bump from Xmas in week 4
4 KWID
5 KXPT
6 KOMP
7 KVEG
8 KLUC
9 KQRT
10 KPLV
11 KKJJ
12 KCYE, KWNR (tied)
14 KFRH
15 KXTE, KWWN (tied)
17 KCEP
18 KSOS, KRRN (tied)
20 KVGS, KOAS (tied)

More quick observations:

On the cume front 6+, KOAS has more than KXTE - which many consider the best signal in the market. Looks like the signal ain't so bad.

And KISF and KRGT are not encoded.

That's a good point. This means that several stations are ranked one or two notches higher than they would be if KISF and KRGT were included.

Univision's L.A. stations are off pretty dramatically in PPM - it will be interesting to see how they do in Las Vegas, SD, and Phoenix. Then again, they are strong in other markets such as Dallas, Houston, and San Francisco (among others).

Does this mean there are plans to start encoding the Univision stations in Las Vegas (and other markets outside the top 10).?

KWID sure is doing well with PPM. It would be interesting to see how the Univision stations compare.

I haven't heard of any plans ...and they keep it pretty quiet over there.

I consider David one of the brightest minds in our business but I respectfully disagree with Univision's decision to not encode.

Not my call!

LA's Spanish language shares are off by around 20%. This is mostly, in my opinion, due to the fact that the latest Spanish Dominant / English dominant count from Nielsen, who provide the data to Arbitron, showed a reduction of 11% in Spanish dominant. If you take the 11% from Spanish dominant and add them to the English dominant side, the spread is 22%, almost exactly what the change is!

I agree that is definitely a factor. However, you've also had the addition of KDLD and KXOS to the Spanish-language side which compresses the shares.

It still seems to me that Piolin listening was over represented in diary. He had tremendous recall and PPM has leveled the playing field.

Not to mention the fact that Mandril is very big for La Raza in PM drive and mornings are no longer the big piece they were in diary.

It's a combination of things but I believe everyone should encode whether you want to use it to sell or not.

Congrats to Party, they seemed to finally make it to the top... hopefully they still do mixes... :-\
