Oct PPM numbers are out

WODC gets a 5.0 for the new Oldies 93.3 i think thats the highest rating outside of Christmas for that signal ever.

The Blitz is down to 4.0 how long before they admit that there is a problem? and with WTDA down to .08 thats gotta be hurting cashflow

WNKO drops to a 1.2 guess not enough room for this many classic hits stations

WNCI drops again now to 7.0

WJKR starts off with .5 but thats with no promotion and not really sure if they were there the entire book

and is Magic holding on to 4.5

.5 is about what I was expecting now.  They entirely blew off their existing cume and so face a daunting rebuilding job -- especially on a frequency that has been associated with urban for so long.  The "October" book goes through 10/12, which means it does capture Jack's full first month -- if there were no encoding/mapping issues (I have a hard time believing the awful 106.3 signal can really earn a 4.5 share) -- but captures none of the time Jack's been advertising.  I think it will be next month, or more likely December, before we can start reading anything into that station's numbers.

Here's what I noticed:

WNCI has fallen off and it's sounded worse musically ever since Florentino left. It's just a TINY bit more rhythmic than when Michael McCoy was in there. Not sure how much influence Florentino had since Cage programs it but it sounded better months ago when it was #1. Imaging's always good though.

The Fan got a HUGE jump and I'll give credit to the Buckeyes even with the so-so season. They're doing good with PPM too.

Power has its best book in awhile, finally out of the 4's. Maybe it's that smartphone contest they're doing.

I imagine The River will continue to do well with them being a slight alternative to Joy.

Oldies - Wow. I wanna see the January PPM's following the XMAS book, and it'll be interesting to see how they do during the XMAS season. I predict Sunny will come on top this time around.

Is Magic's PPM numbers down a little bit?

Rewind looks about the same, if the signal was better, the PPM would be a lot better. The station sounds great if that counts for anything.

Looks like Mix can't keep a consistant book, they don't sound too bad... they really need to run TV ads. They never promoted it.

We'll see what happens with Gen X in a month after the "106.7" transition.

As far as Jack? My favorite station right now, R-Info has it as a classic hits station but it's definitely one of the best adult hits stations I've heard. I love the comical imaging which is very typical for a Jack station, but it sounds pretty local. I hope it does very well here.

Expect some format flips in 2012!

Looking at the Magic format. they didn't loose as much Cume as one would have expected with the move to 106.3... clearly those on who are in the P1s for the format are doing everything they can to "listen" to 106.3...

Hey with the ratings of WOSA ..Maybe tOSU will LMA it back to CD101? (I know it wont happen as tOSU doesn't care about ratings with Classical 101's purpose) :)

I'll be really curious to see see Magic's numbers next month. Maybe you're assumption is right, but that signal is so deficient -- especially in core areas for Magic's target -- that their still-high October numbers is a real head-scratcher. Not scientific of course, but their FB page was brimming with posts by people who said they could no longer pick up the station.

Also I still wonder if a contributing factor might have been some sort of encoding or listening-credit screw-up contributing to at least part of what we're seeing here, e.g., some Jack-FM listening getting credited to WXMG even after those calls were sent over to 106.3. I'm actually even more curious to see Magic's November numbers than Jack's, since again we may not start to get a meaningful read on Jack's progress until December.

Interesting to know when Arb made the change for the formats... naturally the 98.9 encoder device stayed with 98.9 which is why you see "big" numbers for WJKR-FM prior to this month....

It will be interesting to see what next month holds... for Jack's numbers though I am going to give it till Feb-March before I consider writing off the station.. They are doing very little promotion for it .. and they can't really cross promote it to their other cluster listeners (ha would be funny hearing an ad for Jack on 106.3 though... ;) I am not sure yet if we're going to see an overnight success with this one .. but based on the music and the signal quality compaired to some of the other classic hit stations .. I can't write it off after 1 or 2 periods.

Saga ought to offer to buy WNKK from Wilkes so they could use the 107.1 frequency to simulcast Mix 107.9 on. On the south end of Columbus Mix 107.9 seems to always have interference from a 50000 watt christian station from Huntington West Virginia. While WODC is stuck in the holiday spirit WNKO could run a promo like "While the competition is stuck in the holiday season don't forget that you can still get your classic hits here at Kool 101.7". But since they focus on Newark more than they do Columbus they won't.
