October 2012 ratings

The October 2012 ratings are in and some noteworthy things include: 97.1 with a 8.9. 99.5 down to a 6.9. WDVD cracks a 5.0. WJR making some inroads. WRIF carrying the Rock flag at Greater Media, AMP and 106.7 not loving what they see in the ratings, 100.3 wins their tie thanks to cumulative audience, and WDFN heads towards not reporting. If you have seen the ratings, what jumps out at you?

A couple of interesting notes: When was the last time WDVD was top 5? I remember the pre- Amp days seeing WDVD #1 book after book. But welcome back to the top 5! Also a welcome back for Doug, as I haven't seen this in the top ten in awhile. Seems they're not going WJR-FM just yet. And continued falls for Amp and D.

And one more thing...anyone think WDFN could go Comedy soon, as CC seems to be rolling this format out on their AMs and translators?

chrocket87, Doug's surge in ratings is great because it kills the idea that Cumulus has to go Country or Oldies(neither of which I think would be wise right now). Although I haven't listened to 96.3 on a day in day out basis since the 90's, I am amazed with how well they do considering they don't play any rap, and have to recycle some songs that CHR either don't play anymore or not as much. I don't know what's happening to AMP, but where they have fallen to in such a short time is unreal. And finally, I don't really care what they do with WDFN....mostly because they won't do anything. My interest turns to ESPN 1090. They have a nice lineup considering the fact that they carry Mike and Mike and The Herd. I wonder what happened to that power increase, but it would be nice to see what that station could do on a decent signal.

I believe the change in frequencies for 1090, which would also result in a power increase, cleared another hurdle when the Milford Twp Planning Commission approved their site plan. It now goes to the Twp Board.

Would love for them to have better reception on the East Side. Listened to Game 2 of the World Series via their stream. Great to have ESPN Radio in Detroit.

umfan, That signal increase will go a long way in doing so because their signal during the day is only 250 watts, so unless you are on the west side, it's probably not coming in great.

It's November 3rd, and neither AC station has gone All-Christmas yet. No way we go more than four more days before that changes.

Back when jim harper worked @ 105.1 he did not allow that station to go into all christmas mode
that's one of the reasons why he left 100.3 WNIC back in the late 90s

It will never happen, but how about no All-Christmas music before Thanksgiving? Listening to Holiday music when it's almost 60 degrees is kinda strange.
