Holy bleep! RKO is on fire! LMAO! "BIG" "special" announcement coming Friday@ 2:35....not 2:30 or 2:32, nope, nope, nope....exactly 2:35! Yeah buddy!

Howie told a listener today that he could listen at howiecarrshow dot com OR on the Iheartradio app....oh and speaking of Howie....he's now peddling his own coffee.....honest howie's coffee...12oz bag for $10.99 plus shipping.......https://howie.store/product/honest-howies-coffee-signature-blend/

What happened to WROR? They dropped 2 points. They haven't changed anything music or personality-wise. People finally getting tired of the Wally-less Loren and Wally Morning Show?

So, I started listening to 1430 WKOX full time after WMEX went dark on June 30th....back then 1430 would power down at 7:45pm and power back up at 6am...here we are four months later...they power down at 5:30pm and power back up at 7:30am. I figure by the time March rolls around they'll be powering down at 3:15pm and powering back up at 9:30am. Come April I figure they'll start adding hours.

Anyone have any ideas about any program changes on RKO now that Iheart has taken over? koooonah has a "BIG" "special" announcement coming tomorrow afternoon at exactly 2:35pm, I'm guessing it may be related to the Iheart change or perhaps he's finally going to announce to his audience that his close friend Bill Kelly passed away. He teased the info for 2 or 3 days without mentioning Bill's name and apparently got upset because Howie announced Bill's passing on his show.

And speaking of WMEX....any news on them? New owner? Will the station ever come back?

Looks like the sports stations significantly increased over the fall, so I'm guessing that a percentage of WROR's audience may have been listening to seasonal sports on WEEI-FM and WBZ-FM. If so, they'll come back.

iHeart isn't in control of RKO yet but we hear deal closes on Nov 17 and supposedly Magic belongs to Ent. then.Who knows what will go on re: studios.LMAs will begin.
iHeart could put some of their syndie talkers on 680..1430 must be sold, and 1200 is supposedly under contract to carry Bloomberg till Feb.
Howie is already on iHeart stations in Hartford, Holyoke and Cape Cod.

No word yet on WMEX.If someone out there is looking to buy, even w a crappy signal, WKOX will be available.WMEX sans a transmitter site has no value and could officially cease to be as an allocated frequency by late June.

I've been really interested in the studios piece, since Entercom has pointed out that real estate savings are something they're looking to maximize right away. And the trades make it pretty darn messy in this market.

It's been a while (10 years) since I was in 55 Morrissey... but if it's still set up how I understand it, Hot 96.9 is using what was the talk studio built for WTKK. When moving day hits, seems like the logical move would be to put 98.5 in that purpose-built studio, and send Hot 96.9 down the hall to the soon-to-be-former Magic studio.

The others are a total shot in the dark. Magic could take the 98.5 studio and at least get Entercom's wall of women all in one building. But the iHeart group is all over the place. WKAF and WRKO in the New Balance building, WZLX in Birmingham Parkway, WBZ on Soldiers Field, and the WXKS/WJMN/WBWL/WKOX/WXKS-AM group in Medford, the latter two which I assume are living in a server room somewhere as WBWL moved into the former Talk 1200 studio. Does iHeart have any room to grow in the Medford building, or are they going to need a new facility somewhere?

98.5 has a made for TV studio. So what happens there? And its funny I remember some years ago Greater media wanted a sports station long ago well now i guess they missed out. I think the engineers will be busy from all companies during this mess.

5:06 pm on 680, Kuhner promo for tomorrow's big announcement said "it's about a dear friend", so, Kelly.

Which, typical K0000nah, means he's a day late and a dollar short in the news cycle. You'd have to be a shut-in with no internet access and only a transistor radio to not know Bill Kelly passed away.

>>Magic could take the 98.5 studio and at least get Entercom's wall of women all in one building.

Entercom is picking up Magic but losing 97.7 so maybe you mean 106.7 goes to that studio at 20 Guest St

Greater wanted to get the Sox around Apr of 06, the Globe saying it was possible the team could co own part of WBOS which could go all sports.Shortly later, Entercom re upped with the Sox, moving most games to RKO with start of 07 season, and some on EEI (Sox won 07 WS and there were "07 champs--WRKO" bumper stickers).Sports Hub debuted in Aug of 09 and a week or so later Ent moved the Sox completely to WEEI 850...with the move to FM in 2011.

How we stand
Ent--WRKO, WEEI, WEEI-FM, WKAF, WAAF
Loses WRKO and WKAF
Gains WODS, WBMX, WMJX

IHeart--WXKS, WKOX, WJMN, WBWL, WXKS-FM
Gains WRKO, WBZ, WKAF, WZLX
Loses WKOX

Beasley--WBOS, WBQT, WKLB, WROR,WMJX, WRCA and FM translator
Gains--WBZ-FM
Loses--WMJX

Wait...WHAT? 1430 is going to be sold? Damn.

They have to, under owner cap limits.
Kuhner says 2:30p announcement today on RKO will be about a dear friend (late Bill Kelly?) and Jeff says his most personal column yet is on RKO site.He and wife Dr Grace Vuoto will be on RKO 9-noon tomorrow w a tribute

Jeff said the Kelly family didn't want the passing mentioned for awhile..Mr Kelly died of a massive heart attack a week ago Tue.Jeff talking with Mrs Kelly about his being a dear friend, sponsor etc. They have each other's back, Bill's company and Jeff, show will continue..advisors will be on.They will play some of Bill's previous shows

WBZ FM over WBZ-AM. That a first?

Maybe it's me, but I think its a bit tacky to announce to your audience you have a "major announcement" at the end of the week, and essentially it has to do with the death of a show sponsor. Capitalizing (via hype to get ratings) on the death of a friend?

Can someone tell me where debt-ridden iHeart is going to get the $$$ for any of this?
