October 2023 PPMs

Nothing too shocking this month. WIP surges with Phillies playoffs and a good Eagles team. Most everyone else takes a step backward with WIP's jump. (Worth noting, WIP's STREAM had a bigger share than WPEN total).

Nice to see WDAS-FM back at the top of the pile!

Comes are always interesting. 864K for WIP (just on air), 219K for WPEN. Ouchies. A good number of stations out-cumed WDAS. Nothing surprising, just amusing. WIP's stream nearly outdid the screech...er, talk station in town on cume.

WBEB ratings are going to skyrocket really soon. And with WJBR off the air It could get over a 20 share. (If wilmington listening is included?

Dude, no.
Rare me siding with Cass, but while slim, I DO think it could be a possibility. Didn't WBEB crack a 17 share one year in the Holiday book?

EDIT: They peaked at an 18.9 in 2019 and hit a 16.8 last year. 20 is a stretch, but not entirely out of the realm of possibilities.

18.6 back in 2019. But they also haven’t matched that or really been in that neighborhood. No question they’ve done well, but not that well.

Part of the challenge is they’re starting from a lower base. Of course, Christmas fanatics come back once it starts. But your foundation is lower and the presentation of the Christmas format (ok, the whole format, but let’s talk Christmas) has also been less impressive in recent years under Audacy.

Take the slivers of people migrating to whatever streaming option they prefer, couple it with the station’s general “meh” middle of the pack performance overall, and a 20 feels like pie-in-the-sky dreaming.

Every station has competition. Listeners are not monolithic, they don't (typically) lock into one station or source of content and never move. The competition is for the ears that are your actual product. You compete with streaming, satellite and the like. You compete with other stations that overlap with your audience. It is not merely the format being used to reach the audience.
